QUITCLAIM DEED
THIS INDENTURE, made this 29th day of JUly, 1935, be-
tween the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, acting through and by
George H, Dern, Secretary of War, pursuant to the provi-
sions of an Act of Congress approved June 17, 1935 (Pri-
vate No, 89 74th Congress), party of the first part, and
the COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, S TATE OF CALIFORNIA, party of
the second part, WITNESSETH:
THAT the party of the first part, pursuant to the pro-
visions of the Act of Congress above mentioned, has re-
mised, released, and forever quitclaimed, and by these
presents does remise, release, and forever quitclaim unto
the party of the second part, all the right, title and
intere~t of the United States of America in and to all
those certain lots, pieces or parcels of land, together
with all buildings thereon, situate, lying, and being in
the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, and State of
California, known as Ross Field Military Reservation,
more particularly described as follows:
Lot 4 of Tract numbered 949 as deline~ted upon the
map of said tract recorded in Book 17 of Maps, at page
13 records of Los Angeles County, and lots 3, 4, 5 and 6
of tract numbered 2409 as delineated upon the map of said
tract recorded in book 23 of maps, at page 23, records of
Los Angeles County.
The land intended to be conveyed by this deed is
bounded on the north by Falling Leaf Avenue, on the East
by Santa Anita Avenue, on the South by Huntington Drive,
and by land now owned by Clara Baldwin Stocker, and on

the west by the rights-of-way of Pacific Electric Railroad
Company and Southern Pacific Railroad Company, and being
all the land claimed or owned by the party of the first
part within the exterior bO\lUds of Ross Field Military
Reservationl;, formerly known as the Arcadia Balloon Field.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD, the above described premises \lU-
to the party of the second part, for public park, playground,
and recreation purposes only.
PROVIDED ALWAYS, that this conveyance is made upon the
express condition and limitation that the above described
premises shall be limited to the retention and use for
public park, playground, and recreation purposes only by
the party of the second part, and upon cessation of such
retention and use shall revert to the United States of
America without notice, demand, or action brought.
I~ WITNESS WHEREOF, the party of the first part has
caused these presents to be executed by George H, Dern,
Secretary of War of the United States of America and the
seal of the War Department to be affixed hereto the day
and year first above written.

a Notary Public in and for the District of Columbia,
residing therein, duly commissioned and sworn, personally
appeared Geo. H. Dern, known to me to be the Secretary of
War of the United States of America described in and that
executed the within instrument, and also known to me to
be the person who executed the same on behalf of the United

States of America therein named, and he acknowledged to me
that the said United States of America executed the same.

the District of Columbia, the same being a Court of Record,
having by law a seal, do hereby certify that Claude B.
Phelps, before whom the annexed instrument in writing was
executed, and whose name is subscribed thereto, was at the
time of signing the same a Notary Public in and for said
District, residing therein, duly commissioned and sworn,
and authorized by the laws of said District to take the ac-
knowledgment and proof of deeds or conveyances of lands,
tenements, or hereditaments, and other instruments in writ-

ORDER ACCEPTING ~UITCLAIM , An Indenture dated July 29th,
DEED FROM THE UNITED
STATES OF AMERICA. 1935, between the United
States of America, acting through and by George H. Dern,
Secretary of War, party of the first part, and the County
of Los Angeles, party of the second part, whereby said first
part- pursuant to the provisions of an Act of Congress ap-
proved June 17th, 1935 (Private No. 89 74th Congress), re-
mises, releases and quitclaims unto said second party for
public park, playground and recreation purposes, all the
right, title and interest of the United States of America
in and to all those certain lots, pieces or parcels of
land, together with all buildings thereon, situate, lying
and being in the City of Arcadia, County of Los Angeles, and
State of California, blown as Ross Field Military Reserva-
tion, more particularly described as follows: ------
is presented; and on motion of Supervisor Jessup, unani-
mously carried, it is ordered that said indenture be ac-
cepted and recorded in the office of the County Recorder.
The foregoing order was adopted by the Board of Super-
visors of the County of Los Angeles on September 27th, 1935,
and is entered in Minute Book No. 214, Page -- Minutes of
said Board.
