A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DENYING AN APPLICATION FCR
A ZONE VARIANCE TO PRWT CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY
IN SAID CITY TO BE USED FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND
MAINTENANCE OF A CHURCH AND SUNDAY SCHOOL THEREON
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DOES FIND,
DETERMINE AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWt

SECTION 1. That there was filed with the City Planning Commission of
the City of Arcadia the petition of Leona S. Collomb for a zone variance affect-
ing the following described property:
Lot 60, Tract No. 34300 as shown on map recorded in Book 42,
page 32, of Maps, records of Los Angeles County;
to permit the same to be used for the construction and maintenance of a church
and Sunday school, as in said petition more fully set forth. That after due
notice as required by latic, a public hearing on the matter was held by and before
• said City Planning Commission on June 22, 19640 at which time all interested
persons were given full opportunity to be heard and to present evidence. That
said City Planning Commission did thereupon adopt its certain Resolution No. 161
entitled "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA,
CALIFORNIA, RECOWENDINs THE DENIAL OF THE PETITION FOR A VARIANCE TO PE2LUT THE
CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF A CHURCH ON PROPERTY IN ZONE R -1e, v+herein and
whereby it made certain findings and recommendations concerning the requested
variance.
SECTION Z. That there were numerous protests to the granting of the

requested variance filed and made by property owners and residents in the area;
that the granting of the requested variance is not necessary for the preservation
or enjoyment of the substaatinl property rights of the applicant possessed by
other property in the as= vicinity or zone; that adjacent property in the area
abutting Duarte Road is zoned R -1 the same as applicant's property; that from
the evidence received, it is apparent that these properites, including appli-
cant's property, are presently well suited for the purposes for which they are

zoned and have been so developed and used; that no exceptional or extraordinary
ciroumetances or conditions were shown to be applicable to the property involved
or to the intended use of the property that do not apply generally to property
in the same zone or vicinity. That the maintenance and operation of a church at
said location will seriously add to the traffic and congestion already excessive
on said street.
SECTION S. That for the foregoing reasons, the petition of Leona S.
0 Collomb for a zone variance affecting the property hereinabove described should
be and the same is hereby deni6d.

SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Reso-
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was adopted at a regu-
lar meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, held on the 7th day of
September,1954, by the affirmative vote of at least three Councilmen, to -wits
