Barnes, President H. A. Unruh in the Chair. The reading of the minutes of the previous meetings was dispenses with. The Board proceeded with the assessment roll and ordered the following changes made. After going over the Assessment Roll thoroughly and noting all correct- ions to be made, the Board adjourned to meet at 9 A.M. Saturday morning August 24th. for final hearing of complaints of tax payers. The minutes of the meetings of Aug 12, 13, 14 and this data were read and approved. F4 Meeting of the Board of Equalization, Arcadia, Calif. August 24th -1912. The Board of Equalization met at 9 A.M. pursuant to adjournment. Present: H. A. Unruh, H. R. Stocker and J. W. Barnes., President Unruh in the Chair. The Clerk read a communication from J. P. Sullivan requesting a reduct- ion in his assessment and stating that the adjoining property to his is assessed $300. to $400. per acre while his property is assessed at the rate of $576. per acre. After thorough investigation and finding that Mr. Sullivan's state- ment is correct, it was moved, seconded and carried that Mr. Sullivan's assessment be reduced 15%. The Clerk read application from the Atchlson,Topeka & Santa Fe R.R.Co., as follows: - "TO THE HONORABLE BOARD OF EQUALIZATION OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA. The application of the Atchison,Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company respectfully represents that it is the owner of the following described property in the City of Arcadia, which property is assessed on the assessment roll of your City for the year 1913 in the name of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railway Company, and your applicant asks that the said assessment thereof be changed as follows: - "E.J.Baldwin's portion of Santa Anita Rancho. E. portion of 1.73 acres, known as depot grounds, leased to C.J.Pegler in Sec. 29, T.1 N., R.11 W. 780.00" Change to- "E.J.Baldwin's portion of Santa Anita Rancho. 0.04 acres, being that portion of Santa Anita station grounds leased to C. A clerical error was found in the assessment of .1000 pump- ing plant to Lot 8 Baldwin's Addition Iio.l to Santa Anita Colony which was intended for Lot 9 same tract. The examination of the assessment ro &ls was commenced and and work of examination was continued until 12 o'clock noon when a re- cess until 1.15 of the same date was taken. Changes in the valuations as returned by the assessor were ordered made as follows: Lot 123 Arcadia Acreage Tract, which had been reduced to 04550 by the assessor was ordered restored to its former assessed value of ,'4850. Lot 13, Block 94 santa Anita Tract, the value of which had been omitted by the assessor was ordered to be entered at a value of J1250. 5500. improvements, the value for a pumping plant was ordered added to Lot 16 Baldwins Addition No.l to Santa Anita Colony. Lot 29 Block 71 Arcadia City, belonging to the First Pres- byterian Church, was ordered to be treated as non taxable property. Trustee Parker moved that the values of all the real property be ordered raised 10%. The motion was seconded by Trustee Bowen and carried. The protest was that his building was assessed higher than others in his neighborhood. After looking up the Building Permit on the buildings in question it was found that the Demarest building covered 105 feet more floor -space than the other building. Therefore the protest was denied. By letter J. Ogden I.Iarsh protested against the valuation of his property in Tract Ito. 7820, and enclosed letter from Appraiser 'J. G. Harris. After investigation by the Board it was decided that these lots were assessed very low con- sidering the location of same, therefore the protest was denied.
