HomeMy WebLinkAboutAPRIL 8,1969 -- , CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS ARE TAPE RECORDED AND ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK I ROLL CALL: RESOLUTION NO. 4062 I ADOPTED ~ ADJOURNMENT 18: 7440 SPECIAl MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA APRIL 8, 1969 A Special Meeting of the City Council of the City of Arcadia, was held in the Council Chamber on April 8, 1969, at 7 P.M. Said meeting was noticed in full compliance with Section 408 of the City Charter. Purpose: I To discuss the availability and use of funds from the State Disaster Office for the repair of public facilities damaged in the recent heavy rainfall. PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmen Arth, Butterworth, Considine, Helms, Hage None The City Manager and the Director of Public Works explained that the California Disaster Office had requested immediate submission of damage claims, hence the necessity of this meeting. It was noted that the estimated damage 'to Wilderness Park and some city streets is $15,385. Items of work and estimated costs for each item of work for which financial assistance is being requested is as follows: Debris clearance Protective, Health and Sanitation Measures Streets, Roads and Bridges Public Utilities $ 420. 125. 13 ,340. 1,500. $15,385. It was recommended that the Director of Public Works be authorized by resolution to execute for and on behalf of the City said applica- tion and to file it with the appropriate State Office for the purpose of applying for Federal financial assistance under the Federal Disaster Act (Public Law 875, 81st Congress; 42 U. S. C. 1855-1855g). Councilman Helms observed that he had viewed the damage sustained at Wilderness Park; that it is extensive; that repairs are obviously necessary. It was the consensus of the City Council that if funds have been made available for this type of disaster relief, it is appropriate and timely to file the necessary application. Whereupon the City Attorney presented, explained the content and read the tit le of Resolution No. 4062, ent it led: "ATTACHMENT FOR APPLICATION NO. ., REQUESTING FINANCIAl ASSISTANCE UNDER FEDERAL DISASTER ACT." It was MOVED by Councilman Helms, seconded by Councilman Butterworth and carried on roll call vote as follows, that the reading of the full body of Resolution No. 4062 be WAIVED: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Council~en Arth, Butterworth, Considine, Helms, Rage None None It was MOVED by Councilman Helms, seconded by Councilman Butterworth and carried on roll call vote as follows, that Resolution No. 4062 be ADOPTED.
