I'! /1 {J- ': I ADJOURNMENT M I NUT E S ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 21, 1978 The Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met on February 21, 1978 at 8:30 p,.m. in Hall Council Chamber. in regular session the Arcadia City . PRESENT: ABSENT: ~ Agency Members Gilb, Lauber, Margett, Parry, Saelid None On MOTION by Member Gilb, seconded by Member Parry and carried unanimously the minutes of the regular meeting of February 7 were APPROVED. ~ As required by the terms of the Disposition and Development Agreement with Engineerfng Science, Inc., preliminary construction drawings, the plot plan and elevations were presented to the Agency. These are in conformance with the concept plan unanimously approved by the Agency. Discussion held on the setback and it was submitted that in order to maintain the greatest amount of separation between the proposed building and the residential area to the north the Company proposes '--' to maintain a 20 foot front yard setback at the westerly end of the building instead of a 35 foot special setback which is applicable to property on Colorado Place. This setback has been approved by the Modification Committee. A meeting between Walt Muller, owner of the Westerner Motel at 161 Colorado Place, and the architect for the new building, was held and a compromise on the setback has been reached agreeable to both parties. The architect, John Bartlett, 37 W. Huntington Drive, explained the materials to be used on the steel fireproof structure~ The gla~ing will be reflected glass. There will be a circular stairwell in the middle of the building. As to timing he said in part that the escrow will close March 22, demolition of the existing property at the end of March and construction should start around June 1 with completion hopefully in April of 1979. The architect will keep the City Council apprised on materials, etc. b It was MOVED by Council Member Parry, seconded by Council Member Lauber and carried on roll call vote as follows that the preliminary construction plans be approved as submitted except that the westerly portion of the building be shifted northward to provide a minimum 25 foot setback from the property line.
