Building Department budget tentatively approved.
Extensive consideration on conference attendance. It was felt
by Council that inter-state meetings are important and the
Manager was asked to scrutinize the program for the individual
departmental meetings; that it be his determination as to the
attendance of staff at said conferences. Some discussion held
on out of state conferences which can be productive especially
when a City official is functioning on a committee or on the
program.
Extensive consideration on engineering and street departments
budget. Same approved in tentative form.
Recreation budget: Extensive discussion held on the operation
and self supporting aspect of the swim pool program. Reference
was made to a letter from the Swim Club and the costs of the
operation explored. An effort will be made to further assist
the Swim Program.
Water Department budget tentatively approved. It was noted
there are no large construction jobs scheduled for this year.
Discussion ensued on raising funds to meet the budget. Various
avenues were explored; increase business license fees, property
transfer tax, etc. The Manager will prepare a report setting
forth detailed material.
(Public hearing previously scheduled for June 28, 1967).
