HomeMy WebLinkAboutMAY 31,1967 M I NUT E S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA BUDGET STUDY SESSION MAY 31, 1967 The City Council met in budget session on May 31, 1967, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Arcadia City Hall for the primary purpose of continuing the review of the preliminary budget as submitted by the City Manager. I PRESENT : ABSENT: OTHERS PRESENT: Councilmen Arth, Butterworth, Forman, Hage, Considine None City Controller Harris, City Attorney Nicklin Building Department budget tentatively approved. Extensive consideration on conference attendance. It was felt by Council that inter-state meetings are important and the Manager was asked to scrutinize the program for the individual departmental meetings; that it be his determination as to the attendance of staff at said conferences. Some discussion held on out of state conferences which can be productive especially when a City official is functioning on a committee or on the program. Extensive consideration on engineering and street departments budget. Same approved in tentative form. Recreation budget: Extensive discussion held on the operation and self supporting aspect of the swim pool program. Reference was made to a letter from the Swim Club and the costs of the operation explored. An effort will be made to further assist the Swim Program. Water Department budget tentatively approved. It was noted there are no large construction jobs scheduled for this year. Discussion ensued on raising funds to meet the budget. Various avenues were explored; increase business license fees, property transfer tax, etc. The Manager will prepare a report setting forth detailed material.
