HomeMy WebLinkAboutAUGUST 22,1967 1 ROLL CALL SALE OF CITY OWNED PROPERTY (BBC) 1, CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ADVANCE PAYMENT ct.: 1 METROPOLITAN .WATER DISTRICT .F~IfC= 17;7091 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 22, 1967 Pursuant to the order of adjournment of the regular meeting of the City Council on August 15, 1967, the City Council of the City of Arcadia met in adjourned regular session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall at 7:45 P.M., August 22, 1967. PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmen Butterworth, Forman, Hage, Considine Councilman Arth The City Manager Pro Tempore advised of the receipt of a check in the amount of $20,854.24 from the B B C Corporation in connection with the option to purchase city owned property on Santa Anita Avenue between Wheeler and Santa Clara Avenues. He noted the receipt of a specimen performance bond just before the meeting, but too late for the City Attorney's reading and approval. It was MOVED by Councilman Forman that the City Council accept, on a tentative basis, the aforesaid check and the performance bond as submitted; that if the bond be acceptable in its present form to the City Attorney that the requested five months extension be granted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen Butterworth, Forman, Hage, Considine None Councilman Arth The City Manager Pro Tempore advised that pursuant to an agreement between the City and the Chamber of Commerce a request had been received for an advance payment of $1,500 out of the amount due to be paid the Chamber on October 1, 1967. That same is needed for the purpose of paying possessory interest taxes before the delinquent date of said taxes on September 1, 1967. The request meeting no opposition, it was MOVED by Councilman Rage, seconded by Councilman Butterworth and carried on the following roll call vote that $1,500 be authorized to be advanced to the Chamber of Commerce out of the amount due the Chamber as of October 1, 1967 and reflected in the'budget for 1967-68. , AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen Butterworth, Forman, Rage, Considine None Councilman Arth , The City Manager Pro Tempore advised that the resolution setting forth the amount of Metropolitan Water District taxe~ to be paid out of municipal funds for 1967-68 had been received; that a total amount of $388,844.94 would be paid with $48,565.54 to be paid immediately, $204,167.64 on or before December 8, 1967 and $136,111.76 to be paid on or before May 10, 1968. It was MOVED by Councilman Hage, seconded by Councilman Butterworth and carried unanimously that the City Council reaffirm its prior declaration of intent to thus pay the Metropolitan Water District charges. 1. 8-22-67 RESOLUTION NO. 3957 B B C APPOINTMENT ADJOURNMENT 17:7092 ~: I '.. Whereupon the City Attorney presented, explained the content and read the title of Resolution No. 3957, entitled: "A RESOLUTION AND ORDER OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ELECTING TO PAY OUT OF MUNICIPAL FUNDS ONE HUNDRED PER CENT (100%) OF THE AMOUNT OF TAX WHICH WOULD OTHERWISE BE LEVIED UPON PROPERTY WITHIN SAID CITY OF ARCADIA BY AND FOR THE METROPOLITAN WATER . . DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 'BEGINNING JULY 1, 1967 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1968, AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT THEREOF." MOTION by Councilman Butterworth, ~econded by Coqncilman Forman and carried on roll call vote as follows that the reading of the full body of Resolution No. 3957 be WAIVED: 1 AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen Butterworth, Forman, Hage, Considine None Councilman Arth It was further MOVED by Councilman Butterworth, seconded by Council- man Forman and carried on roll call vote as follows that Resolution No. 3957 be adopted. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen Butterworth, Forman, Hage, Considine None Councilman Arth The City Attorney advised that he had made a brief inspection of the bond as submitted by the B B C Corporation and that it was not a performance bond as required. It was the consensus that efforts will be made to work out the details with the corporation, such details to be completed prior to the next regular meeting of the City Council. Mayor Considine will appoint a local citizen to the "Salute to City and County Government Committee" as requested by Governor Reagan. The Committee is being created to generate interest in home rule. / Various names were touched upon during the discussion.
