HomeMy WebLinkAboutMAY 11,1964 I ROLL CALL LAND PURCHASE (Combined Yard- Ousley) F790 LAND PURCHASE (Combined Yard- Wise) F790 I RESOLUTION NO. 3678 (Storm Drain Bond Issue) 16: 6 247 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MAY 11, 1964 The City Council of the City of Arcadia, California met in adjourned regular session on May 11, 1964 at 7 P.M. in the Conference Room of the City Hall PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmen Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold, Turner None On recommendation of the City Manager, MOTION was made by Councilman Balser, seconded by Councilman Forman and carried on roll call vote as follows that the City authorize the purchase of pr.operty located at 8 through 14 South Third Avenue from Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Ousley for $41,500 with 29 per cent being paid at the close of escrow and the balance to be paid without interest on February 1, 1965; the seller to have the right to occupy said property up to August 1, 1964 and to further have the right to remove the two-story structure on the property within 30 days after the balance of the property has been cleared; that the City Manager be authorized to execute escrow instruments on behalf of the City in form prepared by the City Attorney and that the sum of $41,750 be appropriated from RESERVE FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS ACCOUNT NO. 285 in the GENERAL FUND TO CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS ACCOUNT NO. 302, PROPERTY PURCHASE - COMBINED CITY YARDS. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold, Turner None None On recommendation of the City Manager MOTION was made by Councilman Forman, seconded by Councilman Balser and carried on roll call vote as follows that the City Council authorize the purchase of property at 17 S. Fourth Avenue from Sherwood E. Wise for $43,500; pay closing costs excluding any taxes due with the right of the seller to occupy the property until July 1, 1964; that the City Manager be authorized to execute escrow instruments on behalf of the City in form prepared by the City Attorney and that the sum of $44,000 be appropriated from RESERVE FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS ACCOUNT NO. 285 in the GENERAL FUND to CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS ACCOUNT NO. 302, PROPERTY PURCHASE - COMBINED CITY YARDS. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold, Turner None None The City Manager presented, explained the content and read the title of Resolution No. 3678, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, DISAPPROVING PROPOSED COUNTY 1964 STORM DRAIN BOND ISSUE." MOTION by Councilman Reibold, seconded by Councilman Forman and carried on roll call vote as follows that the reading of the full 1. 5-11-64 PLANNING COMMISSION (Appointment- Turner) BUDGET 1964-65 (Preliminary) Fl048 ADJOURNMENT 16:6248 body of Resolution No. 3678 be waived: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilman Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold, Turner None None Councilman Reibold further MOVED that Resolution No. 3678 be adopted. Motion seconded by Councilman Forman and carried on roll call vote as follows: AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilman Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold, Turner None None I Councilman Considine MOVED that Roger Turner, 1019 Encanto Drive, be appointed to the Planning Commission; said term to expire June 30, 1965 (unexpired term of George Forman). Councilman Reibold seconded the motion which was carried unanimously. This appointment creates a vacancy on the Recreation Commission on which Mr. Turner has served since 1959. Departmental budget requests and recommendations of the City Manager studied and discussed at length. In some categories the City Manager will secure additional information and present to the Council at a later date. Any adjustments will be reflected in the budget prior to the time of public hearing - said date to be determined following completion of the budget review. At 10 P.M.
