CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
STUDY SESSION
SEPTEMBER 24, 1964
Pursuant to Resolution No. 3370, members of the City Council
met in the Council Chamber on September 24, 1964 at 9 P.M.
PRESENT: Councilmen Balser, Considine, Forman, Reibold, Turner
ABSENT: . None
Extensive discussion held with the Arcadia Tribune reporter,
Bill DeMuth, regarding procedure in distribution of material
which the City Council receives in connection with immediate
or future consideration. It was decided that provision be made
in the forthcoming Procedural Ordinance. Mayor Turner, the
City Manager and the City Attorney will prepare the guidelines
to be included therein.
Proposed Resolution No. 3714 - "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A VARIANCE FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE OF A PLANNED RESIDENTIAL UNIT
DEVELOPMENT ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF DUARTE ROAD EASTERLY OF EL MONTE
IN SAID CITY" - discussed minutely. Changes are to be made in
Paragraph Nos. 3, 8, 12, 15 and 23.
Mayor Turner appointed David Jacobson, architect, 650 W. Duarte
Road to the City Technical Committee. It was stated that the
1964 Building Code is soon to be adopted by reference and that
the said Committee is reviewing same.
Mayor Turner referred to various notices which he had received and
Councilman Considine asked the consensus of the City Council as to
the use of the vacant land at Santa Anita Avenue and Las Tunas
Drive (northwest corner) being put to a City Park. It was felt
that the area is too commercial and the traffic too heavy for such
usage.
The meeting adjourned at 10 P.M.
