HomeMy WebLinkAboutOCTOBER 29,1964 I I Swinuning Pool Lease (Bong) SALARIES (Department Heads) COUNCIL REPRESENTATION AMERICAN LEGION SISTER CITY LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA CITIES MEETING MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA STUDY SESSION OCTOBER 29, 1964 Pursuant to Resolution No. 3370, members of the City Council met in the Council Chamber on October 29, 1964 at 9 P.M. PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmen Balser, Considine, Forman, Turner Councilman Reibold Discussion held on the possibility of the City joining the School District and participating in the construction costs and use of a swinuning pool on school property. The City Manager had prepared a comprehensive report showing costs for different size pools, dressing room facilities, etc. An olympic size pool was considered the most feasible. The Recreation Department would have access to the rest rooms and the gymnasiums as well as the pool in carrying out its programs. Interest was evinced and the Mayor asked the City Manager to make the matter an agenda item for November 17, 1964. The City Manager advised that Clifford Bong would like to lease City-owned property on Santa Clara Street for approximately three months, same to be used for storage of equipment. Monthly rental discussed for a short term lease only. Matter to become an agenda item for November 3, 1964. The City Manager reported on proposed salary increases for the Department Heads in the form of adjustments on December 1, 1964 with possible consideration given for overall salary increases July 1, 1965. The City Council looked favorably on the increases as suggested by the City Manager who will present a formal reconunendation at the Council meeting of November 17, 1964. Councilman Forman will speak to the Foothill Junior High School students on government. Flag burning ceremony on November 8, 1964 at County Park. Discussion held on the vacancy on the Sister City Conunission created by the resignation of L. Halden Westworth. The new Chamber of Conunerce Manager to be appointed at the next Council meeting. General membership meeting will be held in Culver City Nov. 19, 1964. The Sacramento Newsletter discussed. Two City offices are now receiving it which were considered sufficient as copies could be made for distribution. Possibility of airport at Pomona discussed briefly. The City attended Valley) .
