ARCADIA CITY COUNCIL
JANUARY 30, 1964
Pursuant to Resolution No. 3370, members of the City Council
met in the Conference Room of the City Hall on January 30,
1964 at 7:30 P.M.

OTHERS PRESENT: City Manager, Planning Director, City Attorney
The City Manager Pro Tempore advised that the recommendation of the
City Manager regar,ding the exchange of land between the School
District and the City would appear on agenda for February 4, 1964.
Said land located in the proximity of Santa Clara Avenue. The ex-
change of land would square up parcels for both agencies and be of
benefit to each.
Communication from Mrs. Donald S. Camphouse relative to the slow
action of the traffic signals at Foothill Boulevard and Santa Anita
Avenue was discussed. It was suggested that the situation be
observed for a few days and that the City Manager Pro Tempore
contact the State Division of Highways to ascertain the possibility
of changing the cycle.
Discussion held on the possibility of locating a heliport in Arcadia
to the north of the Civic Center site. Mayor Phillips and Councilman
Turner having attended a meeting recently, reported on the contem-
plated lease arrangements; that a fifteen year lease was being asked
for by the Los Angeles Airways; 6 months cancellation clause after
five years; that there would be an hourly schedule, etc. The noise
and nuisance factor explored; the City to be held one hundred per
cent harmless. The Airways would have complete management of the air
strip with full responsibility. Interest was evinced and staff will
keep in touch with the progress of the matter.
Brief discussion held on the motel-hotel tax. Staff to pursue
possible revenue source.

Brief discussion held on the auditorium possibility; it was pointed
out that some expression should be forthcoming from the community;
what type and how large, etc.; the manner in which to secure such
an expression explored.
The communication from the Chamber of Commerce requesting the City
to not take any action on the disposition of the city owned property
on Duarte Road will appear on agenda for February 4, 1964.
Claim in the amount of $25.00 which was turned down by the City
Insurance carrier was discussed.

The City Attorney was authorized to work out the code area details
in connection with the Metropolitan Water District annexed districts.
Communication from the City Refuse Company requesting a new contract
will appear on agenda for February 4, 1964.

The City Clerk was instructed to forward copies of the Resolution
received from Tripolis, Greece, extending sympathy in the loss of
President Kennedy,to the Sister City Committee and all civic and
service organizations.
Meeting adjourned at 10 P.M.
