ARCADIA CITY COUNCIL
JUNE 29, 1961
Pursuant to Resolution No. 3370, members of the City Council met in
the Conference Room on June 29, 1961, at 7:30 P.M.

Pony League officials: Roy Bernard, Roy Jones and Stan Boss
The matter of use and possible reimbursement to the Pony League
Organization of the lights installed by said League at the Bonita
Park Baseball Park discussed. The City Manager elaborated on report
submitted by staff; also the suggested recommendations contained therein.
The Pony League officials presented its breakdown of costs and
various methods of assistance the City could provide by reimbursement.
The City Manager recommended that the lights be maintained by the City;
schedules to be set up by the Recreation Director with the understanding
that the Pony League would not be deprived of first rights to use of the
field.
The possible construction of a youth hut discussed. It was also
brought out that approximately $1000 could be realized each year
from a snack concession. A trailer is currently being used and
is doing well financially. The Pony League officials felt that
the League could construct the building most economically as it is
in a position to have donated much of the material and labor. Mr.
Bernard stated in part that the League would like to submit plans
on the snack bar, suggesting a cinder block type of construction.
Rest Room facilities also discussed.
It was the oonsensus of the Council that the Manager present to
Council at the next regular meeting of the Council various methods
of handling the lighting facilities presented at this meeting.
Additional parking area for the new library and need discussed.

Property for a future civic auditorium discussed; most desirable site
mentioned being located south of the library waich the American Lutheran
Church is considering acquiring for approximately $60,000. The City
Manager is to contact owners and notify them that the City has a higher
use in mind for the property; also the church officials. If necessary
condemnation proceedings could be instituted. The City Manager to present
recommendation to Council at the next regular meeting (July 5, 1961).
A brief discussion held on development of the Arcadia Industries.
