PRESENT : ABSENT: Councilmen Butterworth, Reibold, Phillips, Balser Councilman Camphouse Following bids received for a trailer-mounted brush chipp~r: The Agricultural Machinery Co. $3,527.16 including sales tax, F.O.B. Arcadia (Asplundh Chipper). Harron, Richard & McCone Co. $4,009.20 including sales tax, F.O.B. Arcadia (Hall Brush Chipper) MOTION by Councilman Reibold, seconded by Councilman Phillips and carried on roll call vote as follows that Council accept the recommendation of aNDEXED the City Manager and the Purchasing Officer and authorize the award of a contract, in form approved by the City Attorney, to the low bidder, The Agricultural Machinery Co., for an Asplundh Chipper, in the amount of $3,527.16 including sales tax, F.O.B. Arcadia, 'funds for same being provided in the Street Department budget; that all other bids be rejected; that any irregularities or informalities in the bids or bidding process be waived; and that the City Manager be authorized to execute such contract on behalf of the City for the performance of the contract and in the amount specified: After discussion on the recommendation of the City Manager regarding the proposed leasing of that portion of city-owned property located at 100 West Duarte Road (portion of Lot 4 of Santa Anita Colony), to Ralph C. Duarte)Schram upon a month to month basis at a rental of $125.00 per month, commencing October 1, 1961, Councilman Phillips MOVED that the Council accept the recommendation of the City Manager and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute a lease between the City and Ralph C. Schram for that portion of Lot 4 of Santa Anita Colony, known as 100 West Duarte Road, at a rental of $125.00 per month, upon a month to month basis, commencing October 1, 1961 and continuing until terminated by either the Lessor or the Lessee upon the giving of sixty days written notice; and further providing that the Lessee assume all maintenance of said property and pay all utilities thereon during the term of said lease. AYES: Councilmen Butterworth, Reibold, Phillips, Balser NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Camphouse MOTION by Councilman Phillips, seconded by Councilman Reibold and carried unanimously that the Council grant permission to the Optimist Club of Arcadia to hold a benefit circus performance on October 8, 1961 at the National Guard Armory in accordance with their letter of September 21, 1961. Wegman and Mildred M. Wegman for $46,150.00 with no interest; principal payable in installments of $15,000.00 on April 20, 1962, $15,575.00 on January 1, 1964 and $15,575.00 on January 1, 1965; the sum of $18,850.00 being payable prior to October 20, 1961; or a total consideration of $65,000.00 for that certain property purchased by the , , -. .,-"- City, described as the west 6.Q, feet of Lot 9 and alC",f Lot 10, in Tract No. 6074 and known'as 56 West Duarte Road, Arcadia: , AYES: Councilmen Butterworth,'Reibold, PHLllips, Balser NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Camphouse I At 7: 35 P.M. the meeting a4j ourned to the Conference ..~'oom for an executive session. f Meeting reconvened at 9:00,P.M. ;,- .r.l :t ,. i . , After discussion regarding the proposed acquisition by, the City of the property known as the Cadwallader property, located north of Huntington' Drive, south of the abandoned, Pacific Electric .right of way, east of THird Avenue and west of the Wash, at a total purchase price of $105,000, and it being the consensus of the Council that it would be to the benefit of the City 'to purchase said property for the : primary ,purpose of construct- ing a reservoir thereon in order to conserve existing space on Water Department property on St. Joseph Street for the cons~ruction of a consolidated warehouse and service yard, Councilman BJtterworth MOVED that Council authorize the City Manager to pay the s~~;of $5000 for an 180 day option to purchase said Cadwallader property, ,said $5000 option price to ~pply toward the total purchase price of $105;000' if said property is purchased by the City within the 180 day period.
