CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
SPECIAL MEETING
MAY 29, 1962
The City Council of the City of Arcadia met in special session in the
Council Chamber of the City Hall a~ 7:15 P.M., May 29, 1962, for the
purpose of discussing, deliberating, receiving evidence, testimony and
advice, making determinations and taking action concerning the proposed
1962-1963 fiscal budget, said specific purposes being set forth in the
Notice calling said special meeting.
PRESENT: Councilmen'Balser, Phillips, Reibold, Turner
Mayor Pro Tempore Phillips recited the purposes of the Special meeting,
said purposes being as set forth above.
Mayor Butterworth joined the Council Meeting at 7:28 P.M.
The Budget for the fiscal year 1962-63 as prepared and presented by
the City Manager was discussed, commencing with "Summary by Funds",
page 1, through page 5, and continuing with "Revenues" from page 6 to
page 7.
Departmental budgets were then reviewed item by item.
The City Manager explained in detail his reasons for recommending the
employment for approximately two months during the summer of 1962 of
an Administrative Interne to work directly under his supervision on
specific projects, such as a study of possible additional sales tax
revenue, etc. The Council concurred in this recommendation.
The subject of remuneration presently being paid to Secretaries who
attend the meetings of the Council, Boards and Commissions, was
discussed, the City Manager to make a study of this subject and report
back at a later date.
The City Manager was requested to present recommendations for an
annual report to the residents through a different media than the
audio visual report which has been very successful in its many showings.
The planned tour of City facilities was discussed and it was
determined that the City Manager make arrangements for transportation
facilities which will enable the Council and certain Department Heads
to travel in one group.
Having reviewed and discussed at length departmental budgets, with the
following changes to be made, the meeting adjourned to Thursday,
May 31, 1962 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council Chamber:
