SPECIAL ADJOURNED MEETING
OF THE
ARCADIA CITY COUNCIL
Special meeting of the City Council was held on May 23, 1960 at 7:30 P.M.
for the purpose of discussing the 1960-61 budget.

PRESENT: Councilmen Balser, Butterworth, Reibold, Phillips and Camphouse;
City Clerk Van Maanen, City Manager Schone and Acting Controller
Harris.
The City Manager recommended the removal of several items from the 1960-61
budget with the recommendation that same be purchased from this year's
appropriations.
DISCUSSION was held on:
Tax rate reduction;
Cost of library building (approximately $695,000.OO,inclusive -
plus cost of securing the corner).
Controller to reclassify 1959-60 operating balances.
Contracting for street work (Duke's bid summarized).
Decision on firemen hours to be made following study of Manager's
recommendation on personnel.
Maintenance of building, including air conditioning.
Some type of report to the citizens to be considered quarterly -
met with most approval.
Chamber of Commerce appropriation.
Insurance program - advisability of having same resurveyed.
Building, plumbing and apartment house fees.
Need for increase in all three expressed.
Councilman Balser moved that the meeting adjourn until 8:30 P.M. May 31, 1960,
following regular adjourned meeting at 7:30 P.M.
