HomeMy WebLinkAboutAUGUST 11,1959 1_= ZONE VARIANCE INDEXED RESOLUTION No. 3160 r,r !'lo 1 /" -" ORDINANCE No. l062 1 lNDEXlill j tiloD J ~1og MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 11, 1959 Pursuant to the order of adjournment of the regular meeting of the City Council of August 4, 1959, the City Council of the City of Arcadia, met in regular adjourned session in the Council Chamber of the City Hall at 7:30 P.M., August ll, 1959. PRESENT : ABSENT: Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold councilman Camphouse Planning Commission Resolution No. 337, recommending the granting of the application of G. H. and Loretta F. Braun for a zone variance to permit the erection of a third dwelling on the property at 236 West Foothill Boulevard. This matter was held over from the regular meeting of August 4, 1959, to allow time for appeal. It being the consensus of the City Council that said variance be granted, the City Attorney presented, explained the content and read the title of Resolution No. 3l60, entitled: "A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, GRANTING A VARIANCE TO PERMIT THE ERECTION OF A THIRD DWELLING ON THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 236 WEST FOOTHILL BOULEVARD IN SAID CITY AND ZONED R-1." Motion by Councilman Jacobi, seconded by Councilman Phillips and carried on roll call vote as follows that the reading of the full body of Resolution No. 3160 be waived: AYES: Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold NOES: Nons ABSENT: Councilman Camphouse Motion by Councilman Jacobi, seconded by Councilman Balser and carried on roll call vote as follows that Resolution No. 3160 be adopted: AYES: Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold NOES: Nons ABSENT: Councilman Camphouse The City Attorney presented for the second time, explained the content and read the title of Ordinance No. l062, entitled: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT OF THIRTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR ON PORTIONS OF LONGDEN AVENUE AND SECOND AVENUE." Motion by Councilman Phillips, seconded by Councilman Balser and carried on roll call vote as follows that the reading of the full body of Ordinance NO. l062 be waived: AYES: Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold NOES: Nons ABSENT: Councilman Gamphouse Motion by Councilman Phillips, seconded by Councilman Jacobi and carried on roll call vote as follows that Ordinance No. l062 be adopted: 1. 8-11-59 ~^,OC\ PROPOSED ANNEXATION ~ INDEXED 5lo2 MARKETOWNE IUDEXED ~0~ ADJOURNMENT AYES: Councilman Balser, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Camphouse The City Attorney advised that it may be necessary to hold an additional meeting the latter part of September in connection with the proposed annexation of property on the south side of Live Oak Avenue between El Monte Avenue and the Santa Anita Wash, and suggested that the members of the Council advise the City Manager of the dates they will be free. He added that it WDuld be advisable for the Council to hold its hearing on the zoning prior to the time of hearing of protests to the annexation proper, as there might be those who would want to exercise the right of protest if a determination of the zoning is not made prior to that time. The City Manager reported on the present status of the Marketowne building which had been gutted by fire the latter part of July, 1959, stating that although the owners of the property had promised that necessary demolition work would be performed, such work had not yet been completed and that the building is presently a menace to public health and safety, and recommended that the Council authorize the City to call for bids for the removal of said building and debris. 1 After an explanation of the Building Code in this connection, Councilman Phillips moved that the Council authorize the Building Department to proceed with the necessary demoliton on such terms and conditions as they deem appropriate and to issue such complaints as in their opinion are necessary to insure compliance with the provisions of the Uniform Building Code. Councilman Balser seconded the motion and it was carried on roll call vote as follows: AYES: Councilmen Balser, Jacobi, Phillips, Reibold NOES: None ABSENT: Councilman Camphouse There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 P.M. ~d2~ yor ATTEST: ~~~~ City Clerk I 2. 8-11-59
