VALLEY v!Staff noted that in the loose material given to Council this evening is ASS'N OF a letter to Mayor Harbicht and the Council from Midge Mason regarding CITIES the next San Gabriel Valley Association of Cities meeting. LIC FEE REDUCT'N (Charitable Functions) TRAFFIC SIGNAL MALFUNCTION ADJOURNMENT ATTEST: Also included, a letter from Mr. Lopes of the West Arcadia Business and Professional Association requesting deletion of the condition that the carnival at the Shopping Center not be dismantled between 7:00 p. m. and 7:00 a. m., September 11. Mr. Lopes will speak to this matter at the AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION segment of the regular meeting. In reply to a question, the City Attorney noted that if Council wishes to take action tonight on this item, it could be an urgency item with the appropriate motion. Some discussion ensued regarding a request from the WABAPA for the City to supply traffic control barricades for their upcoming carnival promotion. Staff noted that the City has no system for providing barricades for these events and would prefer not to provide barricades to commercial operations. Staff recommended scheduling Consent Items 7a and 7b for public hearing September 20, 1988. The City Manager reconfirmed the change in the date of the October 18, 1988 Council Meeting to October 20, 1988. Requested by the City Manager after the Adjourned Regular Meeting this evening. j Councilmember Lojeski inquired about Consent Item 7f with regard to business license fee reduction for charitable functions and inquired if this covered the cost of the paper work. Answer was probably not, but it was done only a few times a year and then only for charitable organiza- tions. vi Councilmember Chandler commented on the malfunction of the traffic signal at the corner of Foothill and Santa Anita ... the light controlling the left turn lane turns green whether there are any cars in that lane or not. Staff replied that the signal maintenance contractor had been notified. Staff wili return with a report.
