Also included, a letter from Mr. Lopes of the West Arcadia Business and
Professional Association requesting deletion of the condition that the
carnival at the Shopping Center not be dismantled between 7:00 p. m. and
7:00 a. m., September 11. Mr. Lopes will speak to this matter at the
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION segment of the regular meeting. In reply to a
question, the City Attorney noted that if Council wishes to take action
tonight on this item, it could be an urgency item with the appropriate
motion.
Some discussion ensued regarding a request from the WABAPA for the City
to supply traffic control barricades for their upcoming carnival promotion.
Staff noted that the City has no system for providing barricades for these
events and would prefer not to provide barricades to commercial operations.
Staff recommended scheduling Consent Items 7a and 7b for public hearing
September 20, 1988.
The City Manager reconfirmed the change in the date of the October 18, 1988
Council Meeting to October 20, 1988.
Requested by the City Manager after the Adjourned Regular Meeting this
evening.
j
Councilmember Lojeski inquired about Consent Item 7f with regard to
business license fee reduction for charitable functions and inquired if
this covered the cost of the paper work. Answer was probably not, but
it was done only a few times a year and then only for charitable organiza-
tions.
vi Councilmember Chandler commented on the malfunction of the traffic
signal at the corner of Foothill and Santa Anita ... the light controlling
the left turn lane turns green whether there are any cars in that lane
or not. Staff replied that the signal maintenance contractor had been
notified. Staff wili return with a report.
At 7:15 p. m., Council entered a CLOSED SESSION, reconveiled and
adjourned sine die at 7:30 p. m.
