ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
DECEMBER 6. 1988
The City Council and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in an
Adjourned Regular Session at 7:00 p. m.. December 6. 1988 in the
Conference Room of the Council Chamber.
PRESENT:

Councilmembers Chandler. Gilb. Lojeski. Young and Harbicht
None
Council considered a request from Mr. Ernie Lopez on behalf of Mayor
Eduardo Garcia Jimenez. Santa Ana. Sonora. Mexico. requesting a Sister
City relationship with Arcadia. After a brief discussion it was deter-
mined that a letter be drafted for Mayor Harbicht's signature to be sent
to Mayor Jimenez thanking him for his concern and interest and explaining
that Arcadia does not wish to establish another Sister City relationship at
this time.
IND.CITIESyf The City Manager reported that the First Annual ICA Winter Seminar is
ASS'N scheduled for February 24 - 26. 1989 in Santa Barbara. The seminar will
WINTER focus on Drug/Gang issues. It was noted that this situation is not a
SEMINAR problem in Arcadia ... other organizations in town are cognizant of the
(Drugs & problems in other cities and have kept abreast of the situation. At this

The Redevelopment Study Session originally scheduled for 6:00.p. m..
December 20. 1988. has been rescheduled to 6:00 p. m.. January 17. 1989.
at which time the Agency will review reports in consideration of future
redevelopment projects.
,;I Staff recommended that the ordinance amending the AMC regarding fees for
Police services at disorderly private assemblages/parties be placed'on
the December 20. 1988 agenda for introduction. Council concurred.
Also recommended for introduction December 20. 1988.an ordinance adding
Chapter 8 to Article III of the AMC imposing permit and condition require-
ments with regard to the placement of construction trash receptacles on
City streets (roll-off trash bins). Council concurred.
The City Manager requested a CLOSED SESSION after the Adjourned Meeting.
J Councilmember Gilb questioned the necessity of opening the Library on
December 24 from 10:00 a. m. to 1:00 p. m. as this is a major holiday
weekend. The Head Librarian explained that in the past there have been
complaints when the Library has closed all day on Saturday; only a partial
staff will be on duty.

vi The cost of processing claims was briefly discussed. The City Attorney
explained that he and the City Manager are authorized to settle claims
that are under $2,500 under certain circumstances. Also to deny claims
when specific criteria are met.
Councilmember Lojeski informed Council that he will be absent from the
first meeting in January.
At 7:15 p. m. Council entered a CLOSED SESSION, RECONVENED and ADJOURNED
sine die at 7:35 p. m.
