CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
and the
ARCAOIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 16, 1983
The City Council and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met 1n an
adjourned regular meeting August 16, 1983 at 7:00 p.m. in the
City Hall Conference Room.
PRESENT: Councilmen Dring, Haltom, Pellegrino, Lojeski
ABSENT: Councilman Hannah
On MOTION by Councilman Dring, seconded by Councilman Pellegrino
and carried Councilman Hannah was EXCUSED.
Council was advised that the final assessment valuation figures for
the current fiscal year have been received from the County-Auditor-
,Controller. With this information Council may now set the rates for
the five zones in Street Lighting and two Vehicle Parking Districts.
Whereupon Council Dring presented, read the title of Resolution No.
5122, entitled: "A RESOLOTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ARCADIA FIXING THE AMOUNT OF REVENUE REQUIRED TO BE RAISED FROM PROP-
ERTY TAXES NECESSARY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1983-84 TO PAY THE INDEBTED-
NESS OF THE CITY OR DISTRICTS."
It was MOVED by Councilman Dring, seconded by Councilman Haltom and
carried on roll call vote as follows that Resolution No. ~122 be and

Council received the request of the Arcadia Youth Soccer Organization
fbr permission to close Campus Drive from El Monte to Santa Anita on
October 1 in order to hold a fund-raising Bike-a-Thon. Funds will be
used for the support of sports activities in the City - e. g. field
lighting, equipment, maintenance, uniforms, etc. Any police expense
incurred will be reimbursed to the City. PErmission was GRANTED on
MOTION by Councilman Pellegrino, seconded by Councilman Haltom and
carried on roll call vote as follows:

Council was advised of and encouraged to attend a seminar relating to
the California ~edevelopment Association to be held November 9.
New format of the agenda was explained by the City Attorney and staff
responded to questions concerning items on the agenda.
It was the consensus of Council to approve the procedure explained by
the Personnel Director for taking applications for the two firefighter
positions. It would be conducted on the Santa Anita Race Track parking
lot and the Clty Manager will execute a contract in form approved by
the City Attorney.
In response to an inquiry the F1re Chief explained that construction of
the 9-1-1 building is about L - 3 weeks ahead of schedule. Communica-
tion equipment is currently being installed.
