VACANCIES / I M I NUT E S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA and the ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING FE8RUARY 7, 1984 The City Council and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in an adjourned regular session 7 p.m. February 7, 1984 in the Arcadia City Hall Conference Room. PRESENT: Councilmen Dring, Haltom, Hannah, Pellegrino, lojeski A8SENT: None Council received information that a presentation had been made by the Mayor, the Director of Public Works, Robert E. Caldwell, resident rep- resentino over 300 local residents and Assemblyman Mountjoy to the Hiqhways and Freeways Subcommittee of Los Angeles County Transportation Commission regarding the need for a soundwall on the 210 Freeway as it goes throuqh the City. The Subcommittee did not make a decision as to which projects would be included on the LACTC'S list, however, it was indicated that the sub- committee did not look too favorably on the Arcadia project because the City still cannot qualify with regard to the minimum sound levels. Assemblyman Mountjoy said he would endeavor to convince CALTRANS to take further sound readinqs. Council explored the aqenda items to be considered at the regular meetina to convene this date. Staff respondea to-questions. Upon receipt of information that the followinq persons have filed nom- ination papers for City Council and pursuant to City Charter Section 803 it was MOVED by Councilman Drina, seconded by Councilman Pelleorino and carried that these offices be declared vacant: Joanna Bruno from the Arcadia 8eautiful Commission-term expiring 6-30-84 Craig Lucas from the Olympic Commission - term expirina 9-15-84 " "" library Board - term expirinCl 6-30-86 Robert Harbicht from the Planninq Commission - term expirinq 6-30-86 ./ Discussion ensued on the new appointments, Councilman Haltom did not arClue the merits of the three persons whose names were submitted - but felt it miqht be wise to see if others would send in a resume, however, it was the consensus of a majority of Council that the Board and Commissions should have a full complement as soon as possible. It was MOVED by Councilman Hannah, seconded by Mayor Lojeski and carried on roll call vote as follows that the following be appointed: library Board - Mrs. Sherry Root - term to expire June 30, 1986 Olympic Commission - John S. Gregory - term expiring September 15, 1984 Planning Commission - Dave Szany - term to expire June 30, 1986 AYES: NOES: ABSTAIN: ABSENT: Councilmen Hannah, Pellegrino, Lojeski Counc i1 man Ha ltom Councilman Drina None -1- 2-7-84 BALLOT lTEt1S CLOSED SESS ION 25:0876 Mayor Lojeski advised of the receipt of a communication from Mrs. Johanna Hofer concerning various items which she would like to see become ballot measures for advisory vote at the next municipal elec- tion. All Councilmembers had received same. , At 7:15 p.m. the City Clerk and others in attendance took their leave as Council entered a CLOSED SESSION on litigation and personnel.
