Adjourned Regular session at 7:00 p. m., January 3, 1989, in the
Arcadia City Hall Conference Room.
PRESENT:
ABSENT:
Councilmembers Chandler, Gilb, Young and Harbicht
Councilmember Lojeski
Councilmember Young MOVED to excuse Councilmember Lojeski, seconded
by Councilmember Gilb and CARRIED.
The City Manager submitted a September 9, 1988 communication to Mr.
Pinkerton, General Manager of the McCaslin property, concerning the
Anoakia site; correspondence from Chris Vance supporting the proposed
recycling/waste disposal program in the City; the City's response to Mr.
Harold Ellis' request for information; a revised copy of the December 20,
1988 Adjourned Regular Meeting Minutes from the City Clerk.
Staff has prepared a Timeline Schedule for implementation of the new
automated/recycling residential refuse collection and disposal program
in the City. Dale Newton, President of Best Disposal, has reviewed the
schedule and is in agreement with the dates and assigned responsibilities.
The proposed Timeline Schedule of public informational meetings, mailings -
letters and City Newsletter, will communicate to the residents the details
of the new refuse service. Staff also mentioned the possible establish-
ment of a "Hotline" staffed by Best Disposal personnel to direct the
many anticipated telephone inquiries to. Publicity for this service
can be placed in the newspaper and the City Newsletter ... which will
be mailed out February 1st. In reference to the two mailings to be
sent out by Best Disposal, it was suggested that they be worded clearly
so that all may understand. Staff will seek to annotate the letters
while in the preparation period.
Staff recommended setting Consent Item 8a on the January 3 Regular
Meeting Agenda for public hearing on January 17, 1989.
The City Manager requested a Closed Session.
In reference to the letter received from Harriet McComas, Councilmember
Gilb MOVED to accept the resignation of Harriet McComas from the Arcadia
