McComas Resignation) ADJOURNMENT ATTEST: ;j Alford, M I NUT E S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA and the ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 3, 1989 The City Council and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in an Adjourned Regular session at 7:00 p. m., January 3, 1989, in the Arcadia City Hall Conference Room. PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmembers Chandler, Gilb, Young and Harbicht Councilmember Lojeski Councilmember Young MOVED to excuse Councilmember Lojeski, seconded by Councilmember Gilb and CARRIED. The City Manager submitted a September 9, 1988 communication to Mr. Pinkerton, General Manager of the McCaslin property, concerning the Anoakia site; correspondence from Chris Vance supporting the proposed recycling/waste disposal program in the City; the City's response to Mr. Harold Ellis' request for information; a revised copy of the December 20, 1988 Adjourned Regular Meeting Minutes from the City Clerk. Staff has prepared a Timeline Schedule for implementation of the new automated/recycling residential refuse collection and disposal program in the City. Dale Newton, President of Best Disposal, has reviewed the schedule and is in agreement with the dates and assigned responsibilities. The proposed Timeline Schedule of public informational meetings, mailings - letters and City Newsletter, will communicate to the residents the details of the new refuse service. Staff also mentioned the possible establish- ment of a "Hotline" staffed by Best Disposal personnel to direct the many anticipated telephone inquiries to. Publicity for this service can be placed in the newspaper and the City Newsletter ... which will be mailed out February 1st. In reference to the two mailings to be sent out by Best Disposal, it was suggested that they be worded clearly so that all may understand. Staff will seek to annotate the letters while in the preparation period. Staff recommended setting Consent Item 8a on the January 3 Regular Meeting Agenda for public hearing on January 17, 1989. The City Manager requested a Closed Session. In reference to the letter received from Harriet McComas, Councilmember Gilb MOVED to accept the resignation of Harriet McComas from the Arcadia Beautiful Commission with regret, seconded by Councilmember Young and CARRIED. Council then entered a CLOSED SESSION, RECONVENED AND ADJOURNED sine die at 7:30 p. m. /~d/~ R. C. Harbicht, Mayor 1/3/89 -1-
