HomeMy WebLinkAboutFEBRUARY 2,1982 1 1 CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS ARE TAPE RECORDED AND ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK 25:0417 ROLL CALL ANNEXATION REQUEST BALLOT MEASURE (Fireworks) VACATION INDUSTRIAL PROJECT DATSUN (Parking) LEAGUE (CA/CITIES DUES SAELI D APPOINTMENT ADJOURNMENT MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 2, 1982 The City Council met in an adjourned regular session at 7:00 p.m. February 2, 1982 in the Arcadia City Hall Conference Room. PRESENT: Councilmen Dring, Haltom, Pellegrino Sae1id, Gi1b ABSENT: None Agenda items were explored. Two public hearings were scheduled for February 16 ., these are agenda items for this date and will be re- flected in the minutes for that meeting. Meeting with Ed Jenkins, representing the residents requesting annexation of territory southwest, and the City Annexation Commit- tee was scheduled for Monday February 22 at 7 p.m. in the Conference Room. Battalion Chief Ray Lock will write the Argument relating to the fire- works measure to appear on the ballot on April 13, 1982. Fire Chief Gerald Gardner has consented to his name being used in the argument. The City Manager advised that he will be away February 11 and 12, 1982. Some discussion held with Benny Joseph concerning his proposed indus- trial project at 411 N. First Avenue. Mr. Joseph is requesting finan- cial assistance of the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency in the demolition of a metal shed located at 56 La Porte Street. This matter will be continued at the regular meeting this date. Inasmuch as the Datsun Agency at 333 E. Huntington Drive uses City owned property adjacent thereto for parking cars the City Manager will request the Agency to provide a Hold Harmless Agreement for the protection of the City in the event of liability. Council received the currrent dues schedule and the proposed new dues for the League of California Cities - this will be discussed at a forthcoming meeting (February 4). Advised that some members of the Arcadia Friendship Club will be visit- ing Arcadia's Sister City, Newcastle, Australia in March and that an Ambassador of Good Will Resolution should be prepared. This will be rearly fnr the February 16 reaular meetina. On MOTION by Councilmen Pellegrino, seconded by Councilman Haltom and carried unanimously Marguerite Towsley was appointed to fill out the unexpired term of Helen Feichtmann on the Arcadia Beautiful Commission. This will terminate June 30, 1985. Some discussion held with the Finance Director concerning the request for the Parking Citation Program to be placed on the computer.
