CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
and the
ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
SUNDAY, JUNE 13, 1982
The City Council of the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Redevelopment
Agency met in an adjourned regular session at 2:30 p.m., June 13,
1982, to continue the consideration of the proposed budget for 1982-83.

Councilmen/Members Dring, Haltom, Hannah, Lojeski, Pellegrino

Mrs. Jeanne Saunders, 841 San Simeon Road, addressed Council on the
needs of the Library. Mrs. Saunders is a member of the Library Board
although she emphasized that she was speaking on her own behalf. She
noted the fine City this is, the excellent services received by the
public at all City facilities, including the Library. She asked that
the Council make every effort to consider these in i~s deliberations
on the budge t.
Discussio~ ensued on the hours the Library is to remain open; Mrs.
Saunders felt morning hours are so important for the pre-schooler
during the summer. She was advised of the hours Council has been
considering.
The subject of the audio-visual equipment was brought up and Staff
advised that the School Board will be meeting next Monday evening and
will present the possibility of accepting this equipment from the
Library for school use. The Superintendent of Schools was of the
opinion that the Board will accept it.
Reference was also made to the offer from the Friends of the Library
to make a gift to the Library of $10,000. It was MOVED by Councilman
Dring, seconded by Councilman Lojeski and carried on roll call vote as
follows, that this gift be accepted with gratitude. The Friends were
able to make this amount from their latest sale of books.

COUNCIL ENTERED A CLOSED SESSION ON PERSONNEL - RECONVENED AND TOOK
THE FOLLOWING ACTION:
It was MOVED by Councilman Hannah, seconded by Councilman Lojeski and
carried on roll call vote as follows, that the Assistant Planner
position in the Planning Department be restored to the 1982-83 Budget.

carried on roll call vote as follows, that the position of Clerk Typist
II in the office of the City Clerk be restored to the 1982-83 Budget:

It was MOVED by Councilman Dring, seconded by Councilman Haltom and
carried on roll call vote as follows, that the recommendation for
additional appropriations as a result of the recently approved water
rate increase be APPROVED and that the Public Works Department Parks
and Grounds Maintenance account be increased by $10,000:

Some discussion held on the business license penalty for late or,non~
payment ($200 or 50% of the fee, whichever is greater) particularly
as it relates to vending machines. It was the consensus that the
penalty apply to all businesses.
Staff report on video game entertainment centers is being prepared
and will be submitted sonn.
