Pellegrino Councilman Drin9 On MOTION by Counci lman Haltom, seconded by Councilman Hannah and carried Councilman Dring was excused, MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS Council received the report and recommendation concerning As"sembly Bi 11 3011 - Workers/Compensation Cancer Presumptions - it was MOVED by Counci lman Lojeski, seconded by Counci lman Hannah and carried that the Mayor be authorized to submit a communication to the State Legis- lature opposing the bill, Council received a report and recommendation on Senate Bill 500 con- cerning l1ability insurance, Inasmuch as this bill would benefit pub- lic entities to reduce their future payout of claims it was MOVED by Councilman Lojeski, seconded by Councilman Hannah and carried that a communication be directed to the Committee members in support of this bi 11 , Counci I received the information that the C1 ty' s Fi re Protection Class1- fication has been improved from a Class 3 to a Class 2, It was noted that Arcadia is only the second city in the State with a population un- der 50,000 to achieve a Class 2 rating, Major factors contributing to this are the improvements in the water system, the constant manning pro- gram in the fire department and improvements in fire equipment since the last rating in 1973, This will be conveyed to the citizens through the Newsletter. On MOTION by Councilman Hannah, seconded by Councilman Lojeski and carried on roll call vote as follows $1000 was appropriated from Fed- eral Revenue Sharing to join in the study as to whether or not the City should join the Independent Cities Risk Management Authority insurance program, AYES NOES ABSENT: Councilmen Hannah, Lojeski, Pellegrino Councilman Haltom Councilman Dring Staff will prepare a report on two items concerning Southern California Gas Company's applications ., Council would like to ascertain if a change in rates is indicated. Agenda items for the regular meetin9 to convene at 7:30 p.m. were explored, On MOTION by Councilman Hannah, seconded by Councilman Haltom and carried the resignation of Robert T. Knight from the Personnel Board was accepted wi th regret.
