MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA and the ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MARCH 1 5, 1983 The City Council of the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in an adjourned regular session Tuesday, March 15, 1983 at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Conference Room. PRESENT: Councilmen/Members Dring, Haltom, Hannah, Lojeski, Pellegrino ABSENT : None Staff introduced Peter Kinnahan, recently appointed to the position of Assistant City Manager for Economic Redevelopment. Mr. Kinnahan will affiliate with the City on March 28. Council received a communication from Mr. Ruvolo of Merrill Lynch Company concerning the First Avenue and Huntington Drive site ... advising that they cannot negotiate without a drop in the purchase price and that the requirements on the parking be waived ... reduced to 3.5 per 1,000. A Notice of an Independent Cities Association Executive meeting. Council was reminded of vacancies on various Boards and/or Commissions. (Senior Citizens' and Personnel Board). Discussion held on the parking situation at Newcastle Park. Various solutions were submitted and it was MOVED by Councilman Lojeski, seconded by Councilman Dring and carried on roll call vote as follows that the parking lot be left unlocked during daytime hours, and that it be closed at a time to coincide throughout the year and agreeable to staff. AYES NOES ABSENT: Councilmen Dring, Haltom, Hannah, Lojeski, Pellegrino None None Discussion ensued on an agenda item for the regular meeting this date concerning the granting by the Planning Commission of a Conditional Use Permit for outdoor storage of equipment at 121 and 127 La Porte Street. It was noted that this will be within sight of the new hotel (Grana~a Royale). A public hearing was scheduled for April 5, 1983 in the regular meeting this date. It was determined that no action be taken at this time on the request to transfer $5,500 from the Capital Outlay Fund to the General Fund, Business License Account. A comment was made that the Library is keeping within its 1982-83 budget. Reference was made to the recommendations for a contractor for dead-bolt locks and smoke detectors.... Councilman Haltom submitted that both the contractor recorr~ended and the prices bid by the low bidder appear excellent. This will be considered at the regular meeting this date. - 1- 3-15-83 PLANN I NG COMMISSION (Kuyper) ATTEST: City Clerk 25:0688 Councilman Lojeski, Council liaison to the Planning Commission, advised that Commissioner Kuyper will be absent from the Commission's meetings from April 26 through June ... his term is up June 30 and although he is eligible for reappointment, Mr. KUyper has expressed a desire not to be reappointed. He has served for 18 years and has other commitments he would like to be free to fulfill. Councilman Lojeski will discuss this with Mr. Kuyper. Mr. Kuyper suggested that Council consider the appointment of a woman to the Commission with the thought that it would provide more balance.
