PRESENT: Council/Members Haltom, LOjeski, Pelle9rino ABSENT: Council/Members Dring, Hannah On MOTION by Councilman Pellegrino, seconded by Councilman Haltom and carried Councilmen Dring ant Hannah were excused, Council was advised that an application had been filed for a license to conduct bingo games by the Arcadia Tournament of Roses Association Subcommittee of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce on June 26, 1983 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 1311 Rodeo Road. This requires a public hearing and same was scheduled for the regular meeting of May 17. Consideration of the proposed 1983-84 budget will be held on May 12, 24, and 31 at 5:30 p,m, in the Conference Room. Consideration of redevelopment matters will be held at 5:30 p.m. May 26 in the Conference Room. Discussion held on the problem of parking spaces in the area of Wheeler/Santa Clara now that the staffs of the two post offices have been combined. The hourly restrictions were also explored, Mayor Lojeski will contact some of the business men in the area and report back at the next meeting. Council received and considered the petition signed by residents on East Forest Avenue relating to the cost of signs and window decals which they felt should be provided to the interested neighborhoods free of charge. The Director/Public Works explained the reasons for the charge of $50 per sign.., cost of labor for installation, ongoing maintenance, sign posts and brackets, and the decals are $1 per set of four. It was felt the proposed procedure would make ,for permanency and the consensus of the Council was to maintain th~:costs. Communication will go forward to petition group, It was MOVED by Councilman Pellegrino, seconded by Councilman Haltom and carried that the resignation of Planni 19 Commissioner John Kirkpatrick be accepted with re9ret. (Mr. Kirkpatrick's term would have expired June 30, 1986.) Publicity on such Commission vacancies wili 90 forward in the next Newsletter. The need to appoint persons with expertise in the area of Planning was submitted. With the consent of the Council members, Mayor Lojeski appointed Councilmen Hannah and Dring as delegate and alternate, respectively, to the West San Gabriel Valley Job Consortium, formed under the -1- 5-3-83 PROPERTY APPRAISAL AUTHORIZED rJ_9~ MEETING / WITH SENATOR PARAMEDIC CHARGE \/ 25 :0713 Federal "Job Training Partnership Act" (JTPA) and the State "Family Economi c Security Act" (FESA). A 1 so, Wade Askew from the School District to the Private Industry Council. Two more appointments will be made from the business community (these will be submitted by the Chamber of Commerce' . On MOTION by Councilman Pellegrino, seconded by Mayor Lojeski and carried on roll call vote as follows an appraisal for property at 16 North Third Avenue was AUTHORIZED. This will be reported at the next regular Council meeting. AYES Councilmen/Members Haltom, Pellegrino, Lojeski NOES : None ABSENT: Councilmen/Members Dring, Hannah Staff advised of a proposed breakfast meeting with Senator Newton Russell. The invitation was submitted by School Board Member Carol Papay. Date to be confirmed. In response to a request of Councilman Pellegrino a report will be obtained on charges for transporting a resident to the Methodist Hospital by the Paramedics. AGENDA items explored.
