CITY COUNCIL AND THE ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
APRIL 27, 1978
The City Council and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in
joint session On April 27, 1978 at 4 p.m. in the Conference
Room of the Arcadia City Hall.

Area on Huntington Drive between Second and Fifth Avenues. The
Economic Coordinator submitted four designs for this area including
retail, restaurant, a motel, some industrial with the existing
automobile agency remaining in its present location On the north
side of Huntington Drive. It was noted that several firms have
indicated a desire to locate in this area which would be ideal due
to its proximity to the 210 Freeway. The various designs covered
minimal developments broken up into several developments. It was
the consensus of the members that Design 1 was preferable inasmuch
as it would accommodate only a few facilities. In order for staff
to have direction it was MOVED by Member Margett, seconded by
Member Gilb and carried on roll call vote as follows that the
drawing identified as "Design One" be accepted in concept. Staff
will work along this line and submit a program for consideration.

Discussion held on the proposed lot division request relating to
Second and Santa Clara. This is tied in with the proposed acqui-
sition of property for the extension of Third Avenue. It was the
consensus that the owners be contacted to discuss the land division
with relation to the proposed lot division and the concept plan.
Area on the southeast corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita
Avenue.' It was submitted that recently there has been consideration
of a potential use of this location for a financial institution. A
drawing was reviewed illustrating some of the possible parcel
aggregation which would be required to meet the needs of various
sized facilities. Also the possibility of acquiring land on Alta
Street for parking purposes. Parking is critical in this particular
location and some discussion held on the creation of a parking
district.
In order to consider this further it was MOVED by Member Margett,
seconded by Member Pellegrino and carried on roll call vote as
follows that staff prepare and submit some detailed conceptual
drawings encompassing the area fro~ Santa Anita east to Second
Avenue and the south side of Huntington Drive to the north side of
Alta Street. The improvements to be identified and any which may
be available for purchase.

Demolition of structures at 225 N. Second Avenue. It was noted in
the staff report dated April 26 that as a result of meetings with
the owner of this property who is currently constructing a new
building to house his company (Tektest, Inc.) it was recommended
that the residential property which was to be left at the corner

as rentals be demolished at a price of approximately $5000. Because
there are several structures on the property it would serve ideally
as a police and fire training site. The police would need about
7 days and the fire about 7 additional days for their exercises. It
was MOVED by Member Saelid, seconded by Member Gilb and carried on
roll call vote as follows that staff be authorized to purchase
houses for $1.00.

It was further MOVED by Member Saelid, seconded by Member Gilb
and carried unanimously that authorization be given for the use
of these properties for police and fire training purposes.
It was noted that the first regular meeting of the City Council in
the month of July will be July 5 (July 4th falls on Tuesday).
Meetings were scheduled for budget sessions as follows:

3 p.m.
(Saturday - 8 a.m.)
4 p.m.
At 6 p.m. the meeting adjourned to May 2, 1978 at 7 p.m. in the
Conference Room.
