HomeMy WebLinkAboutJULY 5,1978 (2) 23:9580 MINUTES CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ADJOURNED REGUlAR MEETING JULY 5, 1978 The City Council met in an adjourned regular session on July 5, 1978 at 7 p.m. in the Arcadia City Hall Conference Room. ROLL CALL PRESENT: ABSENT: Councilmen Margett, Pellegrino, Saelid, Parry Councilman Gilb I On MOTION by Councilman Saelid, seconded by Councilman Pellegrino and carried unanimously Councilman Gilb was excused. f /3y'fa N The Director of Public Works explained the procedure in connection with the proposed parking district at Baldwin and Fairview and a public hearing was scheduled for JULY 12 at 6 p.m. in the Conference Room. / ,'/1 '" The Director of Public Works also explained the reasons for a complaint concerning the need for security arms on a chain link fence at Newcastle Park. Possible liability discussed due to the railroad adjacent thereto. It waS MOVED by Councilman Saelid, seconded by Councilman Margett and carried on roll call vote as follows that the security arm be installed and that $300 be appropriated from Capital Projects to cover the cost of material and labor. I ' AYES: NOES: ABSTA IN : ABSENT: Councilmen Margett, Pellegrino, Saelid None Mayor Parry, due to his business affiliation Councilman Gilb . Staff advised of foreseeable problems with the increased emergency ambulance service rates for Medicare recipients and that it would cause a financial hardship to many of the local residents and would also increase the collection problems on the part of the City. Federal regulations were set forth in the report dated June 30. The staff recommendation was APPROVED on MOTION by Councilman Margett, seconded by Councilman Saelid and carried on roll call vote as follows - that authorization be given to adjust the balance paid by Arcadia residents receiving Medicare benefits until such time that the full 80% is paid by Medicare. AYES: NOES: ABSENT: Councilmen Margett, Pellegrino, Saelid, Parry None Councilman Gilb c 1 Staff explained the request of George Fasching, owner of the car wash facility on the southwest corner of Santa Anita and Colorado, for permission to relocate a canopy from a facility which is being demolished to his car wash location. It was noted that this would not be inconsistent with the regulations. It was MOVED by Councilman Saelid, seconded by Councilman Pellegrino and carried on roll call vote as follows that permission be and it is hereby granted.
