The City Manager explained that the 1972 Mack Diesel Engine No, 2 has
been removed from service due to engine failure and the need for major
mechanical repairs. Staff is of the opinion that with proper repair a
minimum of ten years additional first line service can be anticipated
and five years of reserve use. A new engine would cost approximately
$13,000 which would carry a two year warranty and acceptance test. It
was MOVED by Councilman Gilb, seconded by Councilman Margett and carried
on roll call vote as follows that the engine be purchased and that Mack
Trucks, Inc, , be authorized to perform all necessary work. Funds are in
the Fire Department Equipment Account.
