Discussion held at length on this proposed ordinance. The
Chief of Police presented the position of the Police Department
and explained a new approach and procedure which is soon to go
into operation. It will be a door-to-door approach and a
brochure will be presented to the residents with information on
minimizing burglaries, fire prevention methods, civil defense
preparation and with further information on the cooperation
and responsibility of the homeowner with reference to parties.
He recommended a delay in the adoption of the ordinance.
Council members presented individual observations with relation
to the need for control avenues to prevent out-af-hand situations
which create traffic, parking, noise and other problems for
which they are seeking solutions.
It was the consensus of Council that the recommendation of the
Police Chief has merit at this time and it was MOVED by Council
Member Lauber, seconded by Council Member Gilb and carried on roll
call vote as follows that consideration of the proposed ordinance
be TABLED and that Council's policy be one of more rigid
