First Avenue. PRESENT: ABSENT: Council Members Gilb, Lauber, Saelid Council Members Margett, Parry On MOTION by Council Member Gilb, seconded by Council Memb~r Lauber and carried unanimously Council Members Margett and Parry were excused. Mayor Saelid explored information received January 20, 1978 relative to the use of the parking lot at the Glendale Federal Savings and Loan Company which arrangement has been withdrawn due to the fact that the Company requested a copy of the insurance policy and would not accept a rider. This places the operator of the Marquee West in the position of not complying with a requirement of the conditional use permit; that of sufficient parking spaces. They are now 53 spaces short. The City Council had recently granted a 90 day extension to the dance permit and was assured on January 17 that the Glendale Federal parking lot would be available. Paul Fry, operator of the facility, stated in part that he did not know the reason Glendale Federal had withdrawn its permission but that he was negotiating with Home Savings and Loan for use of its parking lot. This lot is directly across the street from the Marquee West. Mr. Fry said Home Savings would accept a rider which his insurance agent will provide. He has already retained a band for the Friday and Saturday events. The City Council considered the use of public parking (Parking District No.1) at least until Mr. Fry ascertains whether or not he can make arrangements with Home Savings. It was MOVED by Council Member Lauber, seconded by Council Member Gilb and carried on roll call vote as follows that)because it appears that current negotiations relative to the parking may lead to a solution of the parking deficiency and that there are off-street public parking spaces within a radius of 500 feet which would temporarily satisfy the parking requirement, written permission is to be obtained by 5 p.m. February 7, 1978 or proceedings will be initiated for consideration of revoking both the conditional use and dance permits.
