HomeMy WebLinkAboutMARCH 5,1976 ROLL CALL I 1 21:8967 M I NUT E S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING MARCH 5, 1976 The City Council of the City of Arcadia, California met in adjourned regular session on March 5, 1976 at 7:45 A.M. at the Ramada Inn to discuss city matters of concern with Los Angeles County Supervisor, Pete Schabarum. PRESENT: ABSENT: Council Members Saelid, Helms, Scott, Gilb Councilwoman Lauber ITEMS DISCUSSED: Expansion of the Peck Road Park to the northeast. The Supervisor will look into the financial aspect of the expansion. Bicycle Trail across the City. included Arboretum property. Director of the Arboretum. The changes suggested for consideration The Supervisor will discuss this with the San Gabriel Valley bus improvement program. The Supervisor explained the so-called Baxter Ward Plan which he does not favor. The financial status of RTD was explored briefly. His own ideas were also submitted. Gas Tax Aid to Cities. It was submitted that this will continue. Animal control rate change. The contents of the draft of an Agreement which would require monthly payments by Cities prior to the time funds are received from the dog license fees and the inclusion of funds for these payments in budgets. Alternate methods discussed. City Manager will communicate with the Supervisor on this. Special Service Districts. The rated areas explored briefly. area. Will look into this. possibility of cities annexing unincorpo- Supervisor will not support one service Prevailing rate clause - County Charter. Supervisor advised he is en- deavoring to have this on the June primary ballot. Trying to get cities to support this. City Manager will communicate with other cities in this endeavor. El Monte Airport traffic pattern. The position of the City is to change the present right hand traffic pattern to left turn pattern where there is sparse population. On the possibility of permitting jet aircraft to use the facility the Supervisor said he has no intent of approving this. Council asked for a letter on this policy. Health Center - Anita Avenues. 1980. proposed for El Monte - on Ramona between Tyler and Santa Project Profile circulated indicating occupancy date as In response to a question concerning the possibility of having a Mayor and Supervisor for the County - also the possibility of increasing the number of supervisors from perhaps the present five to nine. The Supervisor did not favor either one of these approaches and felt the issue should go to a vote of the people.
