MAY 14, 1981
The City Council of the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Redevelopment
Agency met in an adjourned regular session May 14, 1981 at 7:00 p.m,
in the Conference Room,

Prior to continuing the consideration of the 1981-82 budget staff ad-
vised that it had contacted the California Presbyterian Homes to ascer-
tain if it would be interested in making application to HUD (see Min-
utes of May 11) and was advised that, although there was still interest,
it could not prepare such an application at this time. Staff then con-
tacted the Christian Senior Housing Foundation in Atlanta and an option
has been prepared for signatures.

Continuation of the proposed budget for 1981-82,
Explored each item as listed, including books, official meetings and
office equipment, Discussion held on using microfiche or microfilm for
legal reference. Discussion also held on word processing equipment.
Councilman Saelid submitted that within the next 8 to 10 years some very
sophisticated equipment will be available. The City Attorney would wel-
come a terminal and will check into it.
Reviewed the proposed budget for this department including continued
service level - workload and performance measures. The Director ex-
plained the CETA program as reflected in the increased workload level,
The Fire Chief explained in detail the various divisions of his depart-
ment ... Administration, Building and Grounds, Communications, Prevention,
Ambulance and Paramedics, Suppression.
Also discussed was the 9-1-1 Communications Center at the Fire Depart-
ment Headquarters and a training classroom to double as the City's emer-
gency operations Center at Fire Department Headquarters. Due to the
time element it was MOVED by Councilman Saelid, seconded by Councilman
Pellegrino and carried on roll call vote as follows that amounts shown
in the Capital Improvement Projects Program for 1981-82 for the above
two projects be APPROVED - $162,125 and $69,025 respectively.

The budget as proposed for this Department reviewed in detail, Also the
Building Division under this Department, No changes.
On MOTION by Councilman Saelid, seconded by Councilman Dring and carried
unanimously the resignation of Claude C, Hoard from the Arcadia Beautiful
Commission was ACCEPTED WITH REGRET, This term would have expired June
30, 1984.

On MOTION by Councilman Pellegrino, seconded by Councilman Dring and
carried unanimously the resignation of Mrs. Sarah Peterson from the
Personnel Board was ACCEPTED WITH REGRET. This term would have expired
June 30, 1983.
On MOTION by Councilman Dring, seconded by Councilman Pellegrino and
carried unanimously the resignation of Charles Batterson from the Arcadia
Beautiful Commission was ACCEPTED WITH REGRET, This term will expire
June 30, 1981.
Council received an update report on the status of the proposed hotel
to be constructed by Hometels at the northeast corner of Huntington
Drive and Second Avenue,
At 10:30 p.m, the meeting adjourned to 6 p.m. May 19, 1981 in the Con-
ference Room.
