Requested by the City Manager at the conclusion of the regular
City Council meeting this date. The City Attorney stated
that, "under Government Code Section 54956.9(a), there will
be a Closed Session to discuss the worker's compensation case
of Kranz versus the City",
Council concurred that Mayor Fasching, as the City's
representation to the City Selection Committee, would cast
Arcadia's vote for John Fasana as Member of the Metropolitan
Transit Authority. Mr. Fasana is a member of the Duarte City
Council.
Earlier this year the City Council considered a peafowl
management program. Staff was directed at that time to
prepare an educational brochure for distribution to Arcadia
residents, A two-page insert to the City Newsletter was
prepared and subsequent to that, a draft format for a four-
color glossy-type brochure was also prepared which could be
distributed with the water bills.
Staff reported that the cost for a black and white newsletter
insert with 5,000 additional copies printed for Citywide
distribution (30,000 total), would cost approximately $500.
The cost of which would be absorbed by the newsletter account.
The cos~ for a four-color water bill insert brochure, with
5,000 additional copies available for Citywide distribution
(18;000 total), would total approximately $3,500, Under this
process, specific neighborhoods could be targeted for
distribution with a resulting decrease in cost,
The third option, the cost for 5,000 copies of
brochure for distribution by request-only
approximately $1,600.

Considerable discussion ensued and Council determined to
provide residents in those areas having peacocks with one-page
of key peacock control management information. This to be
printed in black and white and mailed to those specific areas
along with the water bills. Further, additional copies of
this same information could be available at the City Clerk's
