CONSTITUTION TEAM ,"" I :.fd- ~ () NS-P CLOSED SESSION ADJOURNMENT ATTEST: M I NUT E S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA and the ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 2, 1991 The City Council and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in an Adjourned Regular session Tuesday, January 2, 1991 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room of the City Hall Council Chambers. PRESENT: Councilmembers Ciraulo, Fasching, Gilb, Harbicht and Young ABSENT: None On January 3, 1991 at 6:45 p.m., Council, the City Manager, and the Public Works Director will tour certain areas of the City for the purpose of viewing areas that possibly need street lighting or additional lighting. A report, provided by Public Works, will list the percentage of Arcadia areas with no street lighting. The final report will contain the cost of the installation of same in those areas. Also on January 3, 1991 at 8:00 p. m., Council will meet with Dr. Chang and other Chinese businessmen to discuss the problem with the Arcadia sign ordinance and the Pacific Asian Group. This same date Councilmember Gilb has a commitment to attend a meeting and represent the City in connection with the Los Angeles County Transportation Commission and, therefore, can not be present at the meeting with Dr. Chang. After winning the 22nd Congressional District competition the Arcadia High School Constitution Team will soon leave for Sacramento to compete in the State finals. Councilmember Harbicht presented each Councilmember with a photograph of the team and commented that team members spend many hours after school in study and practice for this competition. Mayor Young added that the students are questioned by judges at the competition. .. and the team has performed very well. Positive comments were expressed by Council of the dedication of Larry Sommerville, who works with the Arcadia team and makes all the arrangements with the Congressional District, and teacher Ron Morris, who expends a tremendous amount of extra hours also . .. very similar to a football coach by comparison. It was noted that the team finished in second place at the State level last year and third place the year before. Councilmember Fasching requested a Closed Session before the regular meeting this evening.
