Staff recommended setting Agenda Items Sa and 5b 'on the
Regular Meeting Agenda this date for public hearings April 3,
1990.
Staff reported, in reference to a legal notice in the Pasadena
Star News, that Caltrans is proposing to make certain changes
along the 210 Freeway which will provide high occupancy
vehicle lanes in both directions; construct CHP enforcement
areas and sound walls from Route 134/210 in Pasadena to
Sunflower Avenue in Glandora. Maps of the area under
consideration and the Negative Declaration/Environmental
Assessment and other project information are available at the
Caltrans District 7 Office in Los Angeles. They are asking
for public comment and may schedule a public hearing on the
matter upon request.. Staff reported also t.hat. Calt.rans is
proposing to build soundwalls on the south of the 210 in
Arcadia, between Michillinda and Baldwin Avenue, in about one
and a half years which is when construction will begin for the
proposed widening of that section of the 210. It is estimated
that. the construction will take about three or four months,
according to staff. It was noted also that with the widening
of the freeway through Arcadia, noise levels will increase and
soundwalls will become a reality. It is unknown at this time
when the soundwall on the north side will be constructed.
Council briefly discussed the April 22 SCAG meeting. John
Crowley of Pasadena has requested the vote of the Arcadia
delegate in support of his candidacy for the executive
committee. It was determined that Councilmember Young is the
delegate and Councilmember Lojeski the alternate to the SCAG
Committee.
Staff informed Council that a press release was issued
detailing the action taken by Council in connection with the
aerial spraying of Malathion to eradicate the Mediterranean
fruit fly within the City.
