ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
FEBRUARY 3, 1987
The City Council and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in an
adjourned session at 7:00 p. m., February 3,1987 in the Arcadia
City Hall Conference Room,
PRESENT: Counci1members Chandler, Harbicht, Lojeski and Young
ABSENT: Counci1member Gi1b
On MOTION by Councilmember Lojeski, seconded by Mayor Young and
CARRIED, Counci1member Gilb was EXCUSED.
Two agenda items were scheduled for public hearings on FEBRUARY 17,
1987:
6a. Consideration of Text Amendment 87-1 Architectural/Design Review
6b. Request for variance reo swimming pool fencing (2146 Highland
Oaks) .
Police Chief Johnson reported on disposition of the uniforms which
were not being used any longer (the Department changed colors of the
officer uniforms) ... they were all taken to Tijuana and given to
the police officers there. They were gratefully accepted.
Counci1member Lojeski referred to an item on the agenda for the
regular meeting this date concerning lease of water rights by the
City from Sierra Madre. This brought up the subject of the status of
the improvement of Orange Grove Avenue by Sierra Madre. Mayor. Young
and staff will be meeting with Sierra Madre soon on another matter
(that of the possible closing of Chantry Road) and this may also
be explored.
Mayor Young reported on the last meeting of the Southern California
Association of Cities ... that the deletion of the proposed 20%
service credit only lost by three votes. She felt that if more
contacts had been made, the deletion could have been obtained.
Counci1member Chandler reported on what transpired at a recent
meeting of Solid Waste Management ... it was well attended and
discussion was held on rail being used for waste disposal somewhere
in the desert; also that the Vice Mayor of Blythe attended and said
that his City is the only one which has asked for a state prison
and also they would not mind having a large waste processing
operation; that it would give the City of Blythe some industry
SCAG will study the ramifications of waste by rail... it is
a real problem, Mayor Young will be attending a meeting on this
SOOR in Industry.
