PRESENT: Councilmembers Gilb, Hannah, Lojeski, Young and Pellegrino ABSENT:' None Council entered a CLOSED SESSION on labor negotiations at 7:05 p. m. Reconvened at 7:20 p. m. .. The City Manager advised of a meeting of the League of California Cities on June 6 at the Luminaries Restaurant. At 4:30 p. m., County Supervisor Schabarum will present his program on a'transit system for the valley and at 6;00 p. m. a special plaque will be presented to Senator Newton Russell on behalf of all the cities. Public hearing was scheduled for June 4 on consideration of a zone change to add a design (D) overlay to the R-O 15,000 and R-O 30,000 zoned properties in an area bounded on the west by Baldwin, on the south by Foothill, on the north by Orange Grove and the east by Santa Anita. An item concerning material for the cover of the proposed pedestrian brtdge over Huntington Drive at the location of the new medical building currently under construction on race track property will be placed on the June 4 agenda. The wording for official representation of a Board or Commission was approved to read: "No person shall represent a City Cornni ssion of the , City without that person being a designated member of the particular Board or Commission and elected by the Commission or designated to represent the City by the City Counci 1": Will be refl ected in Handbook. Council received a communication from the attorney on behalf of Dominic Sturniolo and the Derby restaurant owners concerning plans by the Redevelopment Agency for 'the immediate area. A meeting will be arranged for Council members, the City Manager and Mr. Sturniolo. The communication from the officials of the Granada Royale Hotel advising they are no longer interested in developing a triangular piece of property across Second Avenue for overflow parking will be answered by Mayor Pellegrino. It was noted that the City has been looking toward a 35-space lot on said property to alleviate the parking prOblem around the hotel, particularly when large banquets are held. Council received a Citizen Service Resume from Gareth A. Dorn indicating a special interest in being appointed to the Planning Commission. 5/21/85 -1- 25:1233 Councilmember Young asked what response is appropriate to residents who complain about the peacocks.
