ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
JULY 2, 1985
The City Council of the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Redevelopment
Agency met in an adjourned regular session at 7:00 p. m., July 2, 1985
in the Arcadia City Hall Conference Room.
PRESENT: Councilmembers Gilb, Hannah, Lojeski,"Young arid Pellegrino
ABSENT: None
The City Manager referred to miscellaneous items ... one regarding a
possible request for a block party in the northern section of the City
... a proposed letter to the County Supervisor relating to the Museum
on County property. In this regard, the City Manager explained that
a c~l' had been received from the Supervisor's Office asking for a
meeti~g with the Director of Public Works, the City Manager and a
representative of the County Parks and' Recreation Department. This
has been scheduled for July 10. The letter to the Supervisor will be
held in abeyance until after this meeting. Reference was also made to
a ljtter from Dennis Alfieri, Alken Construction Company concerning
a continued interest in the First end Huntington site, and the City
property leased to the Alcapulco Restaurant for perking purposes. All
of this to be discussed in a closed session.
Scheduled a public hearing for July 16 on a proposed text amendment
to add commercial retail uses to those permitted in the CPD-l zone.
Councilmember Lojeski referred to a memorandum from the City Attorney
regarding business signs and MOVED that staff prepare recQmmendations,
based on the survey, for changes in the sign ordinance. Motion seconded
by Councilmember Young and CARRIED on roll call vote as follows:

Some reference was made to the City Attorney's report on signs and its
availability.
Councilmember Lojeski would like a report on the feasibility, costs,
etc. of opening up Fifth Avenue as ft goes south from Huntington Drfve.
There is a little short street deadending at the railroad tracks. He
noted the inconvenience of going south in the area ... having to return
to HUAtingtoA Drive and going south by either Second Avenue or the next
thr$ugh street to the east in Monrovia.
J' Discussion held on the semi-monthiy Arts & Crafts Meet at the County Park.
It was noted that it seems that the attendance has fallen off consid-
erably and may continue to do so during the warm summer months. Perhaps
~y September it can be explored again.
Councilmember Hannah expressed concern about the requests for block
parties for July 4th ... what with the high temperatures and low
humidity at this time.
