CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA
and the
ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 6, 1985
The City Council of the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Redevelopment
Agency met in an adjourned regular session at 7:00 p. m., August 6, 1985
in the Arcadia City Hall Conference Room.
PRESENT: Councilmembers Gilb, Hannah, Lojeski, Young and Pellegrino
ABSENT: None
The City Manager circulated a communication from the Senior Citizens'
Commission concerning the location of a Senior Citizens' Center. First
choice would be between the Bowling Greens and the Oak Tree area, County,Park.
Also, a communication from Barry A. Fisher concerning Fortune Tellir9,
Reference was made to a report from the Director of Parks and Recreation
concerning Proposition 30 Funds and advising that a communication had
been received from the Deputy Director of the Los Angeles County Depart-
ment of Parks and Recreation to the effect that the Department is apply-
ing for Proposition 30 Funds to expand and improve the existing Senior
Citizen Facility at the Arcadia County Park.
Two alternatives were set forth in the staff report dated August 1.
One would be to support the County in its application for the funds
and the other explained what steps would have to be taken should Council
decide to submit an application for the Funds. Staff noted that it seems
unlikely that two applications for funds for the same purpose in the same
City would be approved.
It was MOVED by Councilmember Lojeski, seconded by Councilmember Young
and CARRIED on roll call vote as follows that in lieu of the City apply-
ing for Proposition 30 Funds, staff be directed to contact Los Angeles
County Recreation Department and give Council support to the County
concerning upgrading and rehabilitation of the existing Senior Citizen
building at the Arcadia County Park. These improvements could provide
for the upgraded facilities for the seniors and would also allow for
additional space for Senior Citizen services to be provided by the County.
