PARKING , IIEAR, H.S. , ALL AMERICAN CITY AWARD 25 :1303 M I NUT E S CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ARCADIA and the ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 20. 19B5 The City Council of the City of Arcadia and the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency met in an adjourned regular session at 7:00 p. m., August 20, 19B5 in the Arcadia City Hall Conference Room. PRESENT: Councilmembers Gilb, Hannah, Lojeski, Young and Pellegrino ABSENT: None The City Manager reported on the status of the Museum site on County property. He has discussed it with certain County officials, the Army Corps of Engineers concerning title to the property and with the County Counsel to ascertain whether or not the property may be given to the City without going through the Army Corps of Engineers. Petition for street lights on Laurel Avenue, Second to Wigwam These hearings were scheduled on MOTION by Councilmember Lojeski, seconded by Councilmember Young and CARRIED unanimously. . This is caused by parking Monday through Friday by high school students. Staff concluded that parking control is needed to alleviate the problem, hence a ~'hour prohibition to parking will be imposed. Discussion held on making an application for the All American City award. It was felt that, due to the great amount of time involved in such an undertaking, it was MOVED by Councilmember Gilb, seconded by Council- member Lojeski and CARRIED unanimously that staff make application and work toward submitting it for next year. The City Manager said, in answer to a question by Councilmember Young, that he is not responding to the letters concerning the contract for former Police Chief Mitchell. 8/20/85 -l- DIAL-A-RIDE PROGRAM FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT ADJOURNMENT ATTEST: 25:1304 Staff advised Councilmember Hannah as to the source of funds for an addition to existing City maintenance facilities in an approximate amount of $300.000. The City proposes that $240,000 be funded from an UMTA Section 9 Capital Grant with the remaining $60,000 from Proposi- tion A Local Return Funds, This is in connection with the Short Range Transit Plan FY 1986-1990 under Section 4.2 Capital Project Justifica- tion. Project year is contingent upon completion of consultant study and necessary City construction and design efforts (page 19-20 of the Plan). Discussion held on the Fair Labor Standards Act which now applies to I local government employees as a result of the Supreme Court's decision ... it requires the City to pay time and one half for overtime. Council- member Hannah felt there should be some way to lessen the amounts necessal. to be appropriated for this.
