It was the consensus of Council that the project move ahead. however, the plans should first be submitted to the Historical Conmis- sion for its review and input. Also the Recreation Commission might have some suggestions as to what other recreation activities could be located on the site. Discussion held on the proposed relocation of the City yard and the report submitted by staff recommending retention of an architect. It was the consensus of the City Council that there are a number of archi- tects in the City who could expedite the plans as quickly as those in other localities. and Council would prefer this. Staff will seek proposals from local architects. Staff advised of the proposal by the United States Forestry Service to increase the height of its existing microwave tower by 30 feet ... it is now about 30 feet ... with an eventual height of some 65 feet. Council was desirous of additional information and a diagram. It will be located at the USFS site adjacent to the Freeway. It was noted that there are many residents in the subject area who might be affected. The City Manager will conmunicate the concerns of." Council to USFS and ask for a representative to be present at the' next regular'~ouncil meeting (September 17) to respond to questions. 9/3/85 -1- wc;.. HEARINGS SCHEDULED October 1, 19a5 NEWSRACKS VEHICLE PARKING LIMIT RACE TRACK TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROPERTY TAXES ANTENNA WASTE ENERGY ATTEST: 25:1313 Council was advised that Group W Cable had appealed the decision of the Planning Commission in its denial of a modification request for'permission to erect a dish antenna in excess of a height permitted. ~ Public Hearing was scheduled for October 1, 19a5. Councilmember LOjeski submitted the name of a person who expressed concern to him about the,display of pornographic material in front of certain stores in the City and also had said Sierra Madre has an ordinance banning this type of material in front of the stores ... it is kept inside perhaps back of the counter. I Discussion held on the problems which may be encountered with the proposed text amendment concerning limiting the number of vehicles which may be parked on private property. Instances were cited. Staff advised on the procedure. Councilmember Lojeski was advised on the construction taking place at the Santa Anita Race Track ... the grandstand is being extended. Councilmember Lojeski advised that the Parking Place Commission had recommended that a traffic signal be installed at First and Wheeler as soon as possible ... that a traffic hazard exists at that location. j'-.?:~I Councilmember Lojeski noticed in the newspaper that Hometels is delin~~~~t' in its property tax. A check will be made. ,:' , Pursuant to Councilmember Young's request, a copy of the City's antenna, ordinance will be mailed to the San Gabriel Valley Association of Citfea; Councilmember Young distributed copies of a Waste Energy Plan which were delivered to her for Council information.
