SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM STAFF REGARDING AGENDA ITEMS
Bill Kelly, City Manager, noted the attendance at this meeting of Los Angeles
County Supervisor Mike Antonovich.
Mr, Kelly provided a brief status update the debris removal project currently
underway in Santa Anita by the Los Angeles Department of Public Works
(LADWP); representatives from LADWP were present to answer questions
regarding the canyons and level of debris buildup due to the recent torrential
rains; LADWP staff also noted that they are coordinating with the
neighborhoods adjacent to their debris hauling routes in order to minimize

Jeff Bowen, President of Highland Homeowners Association, appeared to
express his concerns regarding LADWP's debris hauling operation,
Beverlv Wallick, 2000 Canyon Road, appeared to express her concerns
regarding LADWP's debris hauling operation,

a. Discussion concernino the reoair of Chantry Flats Road.
Mr. Kelly provided an update regarding the repair of Santa Anita Canyon Road
(Chantry Flats); the City is currentiy working' with various other jurisdictions to
coordinate clean up projects as well as potential federal funding from FEMA;
the City is projecting a mid-August date for the mud slide, with other
jurisdiction then having access to their mudslides on Santa Anita Canyon Road,
Council Members Chandler and Segal excused themselves from the meeting at
8:00 a,m,

b. Uodate on Arboretum oroiects.
Mr, Kelly introduced Dr. Mark Wourms, Chief Executive Officer of the Los
Angeles County Arboretum; Dr, Wourms provided an update regarding the new
management at the Arboretum as well as several capital and operation
improvements that will be ongoing during the next several months; he noted
several projects including mosquito abatement, the addition of a dedicated
children's play element, reroofing and upgrading of the facilities, and a
renewed committment to working in partnership with the City of Arcadia on
joi nt projects,

Noting no further business, the City Council adjourned this meeting at 8:55 a,m, to April 5,
2005, 6:00 p,m. in the City Council Chamber Conference Room for its Regular Meeting,
