SUMMARY
Each year, the Recreation and Community Services Department provides a number of
activities requiring transportation services. Transportation is needed on a yearly basis
for day camp, sports camp, intramural leagues, and excursions. On June 5, 2012, the
City executed a contract with Arcadia Unified School District to provide transportation
for recreation activities from June 18, 2012, through June 1, 2013. This contract was
executed with an amount not to exceed $43,000, and included an option for (3) one
year renewal periods thereafter, at the City's discretion. Approval of this agenda item
would extend the contract for one year to June 1, 2014.
DISCUSSION
The Arcadia Unified School District has been providing satisfactory transportation
services for the Recreation and Community Services Department for approximately the
last 11 years. The current contract with Arcadia Unified School District will expire on
June 1, 2013. A new contract was submitted to the Arcadia Unified School District and
the cost proposal for transportation services has not increased. The City has the option
to renew this contract for (3) one year renewal periods.
