AGENDA 10/3/89
CITY OF ARCADIA
TO: City Council
October 3, 1989
FROM: Becky Pike, Business License Officer _ -f '
SUBJECT: Application for Business License for Bingo from
the Santa Anita Church.
An application has been filed with the Finance Department for
operation of Bingo Games by the Santa Anita Church. This
application was filed by the President of the Board of Trustees,
Mr. John Hontos on behalf of the Santa Anita Church at 226 W.
Colorado Blvd., Arcadia.
Santa Anita Church was established in 1948 and opened their
location in Arcadia in 1959. The membership population is about
500 and the pastor of Santa Anita Church is Dr. Margaret Stevens.
The proposed Bingo games would be played in their Fellowship Hall
at the church location. They are requesting this permit to hold
Bingo Games for special fund raising events to be scheduled during
the year. Bingo would not be played on a regular weekly basis by
the applicant. The proceeds from these events will be deposited
in a restricted account for charitable purposes only.
The Police, Fire and Planning departments have reviewed the
information and have no objections to the issuance of the permit.
The investigation by the Business License Office indicates that the
Santa Anita Church meets the requirements of the Arcadia Municipal
Code for the issuance of a Business License to operate Bingo Games.
