O R�PORAT80�Rx �� STAFF REPORT DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DE IARTMEI\NT July 19, 1995 TO: Mayor and Members of City Council and Planning Commission Members FROM: Rick Gomez,Deputy City Manager/Development Services Director By: Donna L.Butler, Community Development Administrator SUBJECT: General Plan Update-Joint Meeting of the City Council and the Planning Commission SUMMARY The purpose of tonight's meeting is to provide the City Council and the Planning Commission with a progress report on the General Plan Update. DISCUSSION In order to keep the City Council and the Planning Commission informed on the progress being made on • the General Plan Update, periodic meetings will be conducted. Tonight's joint meeting includes an introduction of the General Plan Consultant team, a summary of the previously held Community Workshop and a general overview of the General Plan update process. Included in the General Plan overview, is an Alternatives Assessment Report which will be distributed to the City Council and Planning Commission at the meeting. The intent of the Alternatives Assessment Report is to: • Identify existing community issues which will need to be addressed as part of the General P1 n Update process; • Provide general policy direction to City staff in the development of General Plan policies, programs and implementation measures;and • Evaluate and discuss the limited number of study areas (three) in the City that have the potential for new land uses. ACTION The meeting should be opened for discussion purposes only. No action is required by the City Council for the Planning Commission at this time.
