The Community Development Division is recommending approval of this request. DISCUSSION The Methodist Hospital leases the subject property from the City of Arcadia. The • hospital's lease provides that the "City shall have the right to approve or disapprove the general design, layout, plot plan and architectural features of all buildings and structures to be located upon the premises." The hospital is requesting the City Council's approval to utilize a portable trailer for up to three (3) years for their MRI services. The Methodist Hospital is undergoing extensive space planning changes and until such time as they identify a permanent location for their MRI services, they are requesting that they be allowed to use a portable trailer. According to Ms. Knudsen's letter, the planning may be complete by January, 2001. Neptune, Thomas, David, architects for the hospital anticipate that it will take approximately three (3) years to complete the relocation. The trailer is 48' long, 8'-6" wide and 13' high (see attached photo) Currently it is parked south of a retaining wall behind the existing cooling tower. The location Methodist Hospital — Portable Trailer January 4, 2000 J1 > re LAS 1 AGED l does not encroach into any parking spaces and is not visible to southbound traffic on Huntington Drive until you are adjacent to the location. Building Services and the Fire Department have reviewed the request and advised that there are no special requirements for the use of this portable trailer. RECOMMENDATION The Community Development Division recommends approval of the use of a portable trailer for three (3) years. ACTION The City Council should approve the use of the temporary portable trailer for three years, subject to expiration of this approval on December 31, 2003.
