Bell, Assistant Human Resources & Risk Manager Subject: RECOMMENDATION TO ADOPT THE NEW CLASS SPECIFICATIONS: DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL, SENIOR COMBINATION INSPECTOR, SENIOR PLANNER, COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING SPECIALIST I/ COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING SPECIALIST II SUMMARY It is recommended that the City Council adopt the new classifications of Deputy Fire Marshal, Senior Combination Inspector, Senior Planner, Communications and Marketing Specialist I/ Communications and Marketing Specialist II, which were approved in the City's 2001 -2002 budget. DISCUSSION The City conducted a classification and compensation study, which was completed by Personnel Concepts, Inc. in April 2001. Included in the study were four (4) new classifications (attached) of Deputy Fire Marshal, Senior Combination Inspector, Senior Planner, Communications and Marketing Specialist I/ Communications and Marketing Specialist II. These new classifications represent promotional possibilities within the professional "families" of positions. The adoption of these classifications were presented to the Human Resources Commission and approved on June 7, 2001. Kelly, City Manager September 4, 2001 W E5 03 V -3.) j>et� Svcs/ F'10 STAFF REPORT PUBLIC WORKS SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Pat Malloy, Public Works Services Director Prepared by: Dave McVey, General Services Superint ndent Chris Ludlum, Management Analyst SUBJECT: RECOMMENDATION TO PURCHASE TEN (10) 2002 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS VEHICLES FOR VARIOUS CITY DEPARTMENTS FROM ROTOLO CHEVROLET FOR $175,791.60. SUMMARY: Staff is recommending that the City Council award a purchase contract for ten (10) 2002 Chevrolet Malibu's in the amount of $175,791.60 to Rotolo Chevrolet. These vehicles will replace two (2) vehicles in the Development Services Department, two (2) vehicles in Fire Department, (2) vehicles in Police Department, three (3) vehicles in Public Works Services Department and one (1) vehicle will be added to the fleet in Public Works Services for use by the new Field Services Manager who is expected to be hired this October. Each of the vehicles scheduled for replacement have reached the requirements of the equipment replacement policy. Funds in the amount of $240,000.00 have been budgeted for the acquisition of these vehicles in this Fiscal Year's Equipment Replacement Program. DISCUSSION: The 2001 -02 Equipment Replacement program provides for the replacement of the following nine (9) vehicles: Development Services Department. 1990 Chevy Caprice (Asset #60061) 1992 Chevy Corsica (Asset #60148) Fire Department 1988 Chevy Blazer (Asset #70046) 1992 Chevy Blazer (Asset #60109) Police Department 1995 Chevy Caprice (Asset #60025) 1995 Chevy Caprice (Asset #60027) Public Works Services Department 1993 Nissan Maxima (Asset #60180) 1992 Chevy Corsica (Asset #60149) 1992 Buick Regal (Asset #60152) C 6 /v. �'-� Mayor and City Council%"+' September 4, 2001 Page 2 M The Equipment Replacement Program also provides for the purchase of one (1) new vehicle in the Public Works Services Department for the new Field Services Manager's position, which is expected to be filled in October. All of the vehicles scheduled for replacement meet the mileage and /or age requirement defined in the City's vehicle replacement policy. The Purchasing Officer advertised and solicited bids for the Chevrolet Malibu's from five (5) dealerships. The total cost to purchase ten (10) 2002 Chevrolet Malibu's is $175,791.60. As budgeted, new mobile two -way radios and emergency lights will also be purchased out of this account for these vehicles. RECOMMENDATIONS: It is recommended that the City Council: 1. Award a contract for the purchase of ten (10) 2002 Chevrolet Malibu LS vehicles to Rotolo Chevrolet in the amount of $175,791.60. 2. TRANSMITTAL OF "AMENDMENT NO. 5 TO THE CENTRAL • REDEVELOPMENT PLAN" FROM THE CITY COUNCIL TO THE ARCADIA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY DISCUSSION The California Redevelopment Law requires that following adoption of an ordinance adopting a redevelopment plan or amendment, the City Council is to send a certified copy of the amendment to the Agency Board. Attached is a certified copy of the City Council Ordinance 2145. Exhibit One to this Ordinance is the actual Amendment No. 5 (South Arcadia). By this action the City . Council is directing the Agency to implement Amendment No. 5. RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Agency acknowledge receipt of City Council Ordinance 2145 and the attached Amendment No. 5 to the Central Redevelopment -- Plan, and file the Ordinance and Amendment.
