DISCUSSION The Public Works Services Department's Fleet Section is responsible for purchasing and maintaining tires and accessories for all City vehicles. In order to prevent an interruption in daily operations, the Public Works Services Department maintains a contract with a tire service supplier who provides tires and tire related services on an as- needed basis. For example, Daniels Tire Service responds when called to replace a flat tire on a fire engine or on heavy duty equipment. Daniels Tire Service also carries specific tire sizes and brands that the City uses. Since the contract is on an as- needed basis only, the City expended approximately $48,000 for new tires and tire related services from Daniels Tires Service during this contract period.
