Dear Mr. Martin: This presents the results of soil compaction testing at the subject site. The work was in conjunction with the grading operations involved with the removal and recompaction of soils within the proposed foundation system for the proposed 6-foot maximum height retaining wall to be located north of proposed swimming pool(See Plot Plan). At the time of our initial field visit, the footing excavations for the proposed wall were excavated and the rebar had been placed in the keyway. Exploratory borings were made at various locations to determine that a minimum of 1 foot of compacted soils existed beneath the bottom of footing keyway. Englemann Court 2 NE4184 Reportedly, the soils were placed in 6-inch thick layers, watered as needed to reach a near-optimum moisture content and thoroughly-compacted using hand-held tampers. This process was continued until the level of the top of wall footing was reached. Based on the test results, it is certified that the soils tested for the wall footing were thoroughly-compacted to a minimum relative compaction of 90 percent based on a laboratory maximum compaction test value obtained using ASTM Method D 1557. The compacted soils are classified as primary, structural fills intended to provide competent support to the wall footing.
